International Workshop “Japanese Teaching and Studies in Viet Nam – Cooperation Opportunities for Human Resource Training”

On November 10th 2017, the University of Languages and International Studies – Vietnam National University , Ha Noi (ULIS – VNU) collaborated with Benesse and Learn’s Company to organize an international workshop “Japanese Teaching and Studies in Viet Nam – Cooperation Opportunities for Human Resource Training” at Vu Dinh Lien Amphitheater. It is one of the event series to celebrate 25 years of Japanese teaching at ULIS.

The workshop was attended by Dr. Do Tuan Minh – ULIS’s President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Minh Thuy and Dr. Nguyen Xuan Long – ULIS’s Vice Presidents, Mr. Ando Toshiki – Director of Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thu – Head of Development Cooperation Committee, VNU and Japanese teaching universities, workshop’s organizers, lecturers and students.

Making his opening remarks at the workshop, President Minh appreciated the growing relationship between Vietnam and Japan.

“With the title “Japanese Teaching and Studies in Viet Nam – Cooperation Opportunities for Human Resource Training”, we hold this workshop to create a forum for home and overseas scholars, enterprises, educational policy consulting agencies to discuss and explore cooperation opportunities as well as optimal solutions to design the most innovative Japanese teaching and learning methods. This helps to train talented people who are employable and able to respond to prompt changes in the digital era “. The principal affirmed and extended his thanks to the participants.

After the opening ceremony, delegates continued discussing and listened to reports at the plenary session and the subcommittees. The organizers have received over 50 scientific reports of scholars from universities, home and overseas research institutes such as Kanazawa University, Waseda University, Saga University, Nishi Kyushu University, Kyushu University, Nagoya University of Economics, University of Toyama, Osaka University, Foreign Language University of Kyoto, Japan Studies Institute of Nichibunken, Foundation for International Exchange, Center for Japanese Law Training and Studies – Nagoya University and universities all over the country as well as some companies such as Co-well and Framgia.

The content of reports surrounds 3 main issues of the conference, namely Japanese language and culture, teaching and learning Japanese, human resource training. The presentations of keynote speakers were highly appreciated in terms of their expertise and presentation manner.

After the closing session, the international workshop “Japanese Teaching and Studies in Viet Nam – Cooperation Opportunities for Human Resource Training” officially closed. The workshop has become a real forum for exchanging ideas on the issues related to Japanese teaching and learning, connecting such ideas and putting forward many initiatives to improve the quality of Japanese teaching in Vietnam and all over the world.
