Signing the MOU of cooperation with the Republic of Korea Defense Security Command

On June 26th, 2018, the University of Languages and International Studies – Vietnam National University, Hanoi (ULIS – VNU) signed the MOU of cooperation with the Republic of Korea Defense Security Command.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Do Tuan Minh – ULIS’s President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Minh Thuy – ULIS’s Vice President, Dr. Do Minh Hoang – Director of Cooperation and Development Office, Dr. Tran Thi Huong – Dean of Korean Language & Culture. From Korea, Lieutenant General Lee Seok Gu – Chief Commander of the Republic of Korea Defense Security Command, Mr. Jeong Yeon Chang – Attache of National Defense of the Republic of Korea, Mr. Seo Yoon Sik – Director of the Republic of Korea Defense Security Command, Senior Lieutenant Colonel Kim Tae Hyun and Captain Seong Kwang Kim from the Republic of Korea Defense Security Command took part in the meeting.

At the meeting, President Minh and Mr. Lee Seok Gu represented two organizations to sign the official MOU of cooperation. Both sides pledged to cooperate in exchange and research. For the Foreign scholar program, the Republic of Korea Defense Security Command would annually assign an officer to serve at ULIS for 6 months. The MOU will be valid for 5 years and the first officer of this program is expected to work at ULIS in the upcoming time.


Addressing at the signing ceremony, President Minh expressed his gratitude to Lieutenant General Lee Seok Gu and the Republic of Korea Defense Security Command for their trust and interest in cooperating with ULIS. He said that in recent years, there had been significant progress in 3 levels of Korean language training at ULIS. Dr. Minh hoped the ceremony would act as the first milestone in the long-term relationship of the two parties.

Vice President Thuy also believed that ULIS and the Republic of Korea Defense Security Command would have many opportunities to cooperate in the future in not only student admission but also staff exchange programs, university administration and teaching support, etc.

Speaking highly of ULIS’s success in popularizing Korean in Vietnam, Lieutenant General Lee Seok Gu thought that ULIS was the partner of choice which could help the Republic of Korea Defense Security Command to train experts of Vietnamese language and culture. Based on the coming initial cooperation activities, he hoped that the two sides would promote a wide and deep cooperation in many realms in the future.

The signing ceremony of MOU of cooperation between ULIS and the Republic of Korea Defense Security Command successfully came to an end and marked the development of cooperative relationship between the two sides.
