English Olympiad for non-English major students in North Vietnam – “Pro-E Contest 2018”

Under the theme “English on the move”, all seven Northern regional final teams competed and contributed outstanding, creative, and highly artistic performances, in which the performance of the team from the Military Medical Academy was the most prominent and convincing to receive the judges and the audiences’ approval and reception of the first Prize.

 

On November 13th, 2018, ULIS-VNU organized the Northern Regional Final Round of the English Olympiad for non-English major students – “Pro-E Contest 2018” with the participation of 7 teams from Vietnam Military Medical Academy, People’s Security Academy, Hanoi University of Business and Technology, Hanoi Pedagogical University 2, Dai Nam University, National Economics University, and Military Science Academy.

The event was attended by a lot of distinguished guests and representatives from the Central Youth Union, VNU’s Youth Union, Hanoi Student Association, VNU student Association, Management Board of the foreign language Project.

From the ULIS side, Vice President Ngo Minh Thuy, Head of the competition’s organizing Board and representatives from ULIS’s units attended the event.

Particularly, there were members of the 7 teams participating at the contest.

Delivering her remarks, Vice President Ngo Minh Thuy expressed her pleasure and honor when ULIS-VNU was entrusted with the task of hosting the Pro-E Contest 2018.

Besides, the University was also actively involved in the National Foreign Language Project.

She affirmed that the contest was a great opportunity for Non-English-major students to discover themselves, showcase their talents, and compete with other talented students.

After that, all 7 teams entered the greeting section and the knowledge section to find the four best teams to compete in the debate contest.

At the end of the two rounds, four teams from Vietnam Military Medical Academy; People’s Security Academy; Hanoi University of Business and Technology; Hanoi Pedagogical University 2 scored higher and step into the debate round.

With the great stamina and talent of the members, the team from the Vietnam Military Medical Academy excelled over the other teams to be named as the team who won the first Prize.

In addition to the first Prize for the Vietnam Military Medical Academy, the other teams also won the following prizes:

–       Second Prize: People’s Security Academy.

–       Third Prize: Hanoi University of Business and Technology; Hanoi Pedagogical University 2.

–       Consolation Prize: Dai Nam University; National Economics University; and Military Science Academy.

–       Most Wanted video Prize: Hanoi Pedagogical University 2.

Thus, according to this result the Vietnam Military Medical Academy and the People’s Security Academy will represent the North region to compete in the national final contest.

The English Olympiad for non-English major students – “Pro-E Contest 2018” reaped an encouraging success, which resulted in the two most outstanding teams representing the North region in the National Final Round on December 9th, 2018.
