Preliminary report of one-year cooperation between the University of Languages and International Studies(ULIS) and the Military Science Academy(MSA).

On January 11th,2018 ,  Military Science Academy held a conference to summarize the one-year cooperation between the Military Science Academy and the University of Languages and International Studies  – Hanoi National University.

The conference was attended by Dr. Do Tuan Minh – ULIS’s President, Assoc. Prof. Ngo Minh Thuy – ULIS’s Vice President and representatives of the units participating in cooperative activities with the Military Sciences Academy. On behalf of the Academy of Military Science, there were Major General Dang Tri Dung – Director of the Academy; Major General Quan Van Trung – Political Commissar; The Deputy Directors were Colonel Nguyen Trong Hai, Colonel Tran Ngoc Trung, Colonel Pham Quang Hai and representatives of the units.

Representative of Training Department of Military Science Academy presented the preliminary report after one year of cooperation.

On August 26th,2016 , University of  Languages and International Studies and Military Science Academy officially signed a cooperation agreement. After more than a year of implementation, the cooperation between the two units has achieved successful outcomes. Preliminary report of Military Science Academy indicated that the two universities have jointly organized training activities; organized and participated in workshops to improve foreign language teaching or innovation and creativity in education activities. Some specific examples of these activities are: Collaborating on the topic of “Studying and modeling the improvement of foreign language skills for cadres of Customs, Foreign affairs, Tourism and Border guards for the implementation of public services in the trend of international integration in the Northwest; donating books, teaching materials, foreign language training, professional magazines; supporting the training of doctoral students, exam questions and exchange of experiences on management and post-graduate training; collaborative assessment of the outline, master thesis …

In addition, the two schools co-organised many activities in order to create opportunities for students to meet, participate in not only the activities for studying purposes but also voluntary activities for the community, such as: Foreign language Olympics, prom, talkshow, seminar, club meeting, “Mùa hè xanh” (Green Summer), “Mùa đông ấm” (Loving Winter) programme, etc. However, those activities are still limited. Therefore, Military science Academy suggests continuing innovating educational programme, increasing the number of transnational education programme; promoting educational collaboration with studying orientation based on research; keeping exchanging experiences among lecturers and extra curricular for students. The representatives were eager to discuss and make proposals to develop a cooperative relationship between the two universities. The teachers all agreed that the signing of cooperation had helped two sides grow.

Discussing and proposing opportunities for cooperation

Speaking at the conference, President Do Tuan Minh shared his joy when the two schools had actively sought potential opportunities for cooperation. The headmaster assessed the relationship between the two sides as a very special relationship and hoped that the two units would implement deeper cooperation in the future. Sympathizing with the opinions of Rector Do Tuan Minh, Major General Dang Tri Dung affirmed that the Academy would wholeheartedly support all activities for the cooperation between the two schools, and at the same time requested units that belong to the Academy to actively and positively share information and seek supportive opportunities with the criteria of cooperation and development based on the strengths of both sides.

During the visit to the headquarters of the Academy of Military Sciences, the delegation of the University of Languages and International Studies also had the chances to visit the facilities of the Academy such as the managing building, classrooms, the traditonal room, the library, the laboratory, the football pitch, etc. On this occasion, the University gave several books, materials, especially the first 7 issues of the Journal of Foreign Studies to the Academy.
