This was the third time that ULIS – VNU was assigned by the Ministry of Education and Training to form the teams, organize supplementary classes, and lead students to the final round of the Russian Olympic Games in Russia. This year, the competition took place from December 3^rd to 7^th, 2018 at a Russian Institute called Puskin in Moscow.

The team consists of three students: Nguyen Quynh Anh (Nguyen Hue High School, Hanoi), Cao Thi Linh Chi (Hoang Van Thu High school for gifted students, Hoa Binh Province), and Dinh Thi Phuong Anh (Russian Embassy High school at Vietnam, Hanoi). The team was led by Dr. Dinh Thi Thu Huyen – Dean of the Faculty of Russian Language & Culture.

A total of 127 international contestants from 34 countries competing in the final round (out of 1640 applicants from 44 countries) competed in this year’s competition.

The candidates were divided into two groups: Group 1 consisted of candidates who learnt Russian as a second language and Group 2 were candidates who studied in the subjects taught in Russian.

In the final round, the contestants had to sit three compulsory examinations: writing essay, answering questions about knowledge of Russian, and questions about Russian. In addition, there is an eloquence contest for contestants wishing to attend.

After an intense competition, the Vietnamese team won a silver medal (Nguyen Quynh Anh) and a bronze medal (Dinh Thi Phuong Anh). In addition to that, the students also went for sightseeing in Moscow, participated in a variety of cultural and entertainment activities at the Russian Institute of Puskin.
