Closing Ceremony of the “American English Viewing Marathon 2026” Project: Inspiring Learning and Connecting the English-Language Community

On 24 August 2026, the University of Languages and International Studies (ULIS), Vietnam National University, Hanoi, held the Closing Ceremony of the “American English Viewing Marathon 2026” Project, marking the conclusion of a journey of learning, experience, and English-language engagement with the participation of teachers, learners, and English enthusiasts from across Vietnam.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Hoa Ngoc Son, Vice Rector of ULIS, expressed his appreciation to the organizations, teachers, students, and participants who had supported the Project. He emphasized the role of initiatives such as the American English Viewing Marathon in expanding the English-learning community and providing access to modern, flexible, and proactive learning methods, contributing to the goal of gradually making English a second language in Vietnam. Mr. David Fay, Director of RELO, also highlighted the importance of passionate teachers and continuous self-development in creating meaningful educational programmes.

The ceremony reviewed the Project's journey and achievements through ULIS CONNECT and Review Marathon 2026, which provided teachers and students with opportunities to engage with diverse multimedia learning resources and develop skills in independent learning, analysis, evaluation, and critical thinking. The programme also honoured outstanding individuals and institutions and introduced scholarships and professional development courses for teachers, further encouraging lifelong learning and continued engagement with English.

The event concluded with reflections from participating educational institutions, a lucky draw, and a commemorative group photo. The American English Viewing Marathon 2026 not only created an inspiring space for English learning but also strengthened connections among teachers, students, and educational institutions across Vietnam. Building on its achievements, the Project is expected to continue expanding in future seasons and contribute to the broader goal of promoting English as a second language in Vietnam.
