Book launch ceremony “Mountains Beyond Mountains: A Memoir of Vietnam, Cancer and Meaningful Work”

On October 21st, 2019 at the Sunwah Hall, ULIS – VNU took place the launch of the memoir “Mountains Beyond Mountains: A Memoir of Vietnam, Cancer and Meaningful Work” by Diana Dudzik, an American professor who has taught English and devoted herself to foreign language teaching in Vietnam for many years.

The event was attended by ULIS Executive Board, former members of Executive Board, representatives from the Ministry of Education and Training, the National Foreign Language Project, representatives of universities offering foreign languages, colleagues, students, who love the author.

Since the early 1990’s, Dr. Diana Dudzik has strived to develop and improve the teaching and learning of English in Vietnam in particular and the development of Vietnamese education in general. She participated in the National Foreign Language Project as an English senior expert of the US Department of State.

The author also contributes a lot to ULIS in teaching, training, fostering activities, etc. Diana Dudzik received the Certificate of Merit in 2013 and a Medal for Education from the Ministry of Education and Training, one of the most prestigious awards for contributions to the education industry in 2017.

On the occasion of the event, the author spent time presenting the books to her loved ones who had assisted her in the publishing process. After that, the participants had the opportunity to share their feelings about the book and chat with the author to better understand about the work that Dr. Diana Dudzik had been involved in teaching English, her life and work in Vietnam, and the battle with illnesses that the tenacious teacher had experienced.

The entire amount of money from book sales will be extracted by Dr. Diana Dudzik to support the teacher scholarship fund of VietTESOL and cancer patients.
