ULIS students discover wine and cheese in Francophone cuisine

On November 17th, 2022, more than 200 students and lecturers of the Faculty of French Language and Culture had the opportunity to discover two kinds of quintessence of French cuisine – wine and cheese with two speakers who are experts and have many years of experience in the field of importing and trading these two types of products.

Delivering her speech at the opening of the program, Ms. Dam Minh Thuy – Dean of the Faculty of French Language and Culture emphasized the close connection between language and culture as well as the role of experiential activities in the process of learning a foreign language.

In the first part of the program, Mr. Nguyen Viet Long – a ULIS Alumnus, Sales Director of Northern Region – Les Celliers d’Asie Company shared with the students the basic knowledge about wine such as the effects of wine on health, wine classification, wine-producing regions, production process as well as how to select and grow grapes to make a bottle of quality wine.

In the second part of the program, Ms. Bui Nguyet Anh – General Supervisor of Annam Gourmet’s Cheese Industry introduced the world of hundreds of kinds of cheese from different regions across France to the students.

The program ended with a tasting of wine and cheese. The guests, lecturers and students enjoyed white wine, red wine and different types of cheese.
