On August 24, 2026, the University of Languages and International Studies - Vietnam National University, Hanoi (ULIS - VNU) welcomed H.E. Shadi Abu Zarqa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Palestine to Vietnam, for a meeting to explore potential areas of cooperation.

The meeting was attended by Vice President Hoa Ngọc Sơn, representatives of the Office of Research and Partnerships, and the Faculty of Arabic Language and Culture.
During the meeting, ULIS introduced its development journey, educational scale, and student community, highlighting its strengths in foreign language education, linguistic and cultural studies, and international cooperation. The University expressed its commitment to expanding its international partnerships and creating more opportunities for students in learning, research, and cultural exchange.

The two sides discussed cultural and traditional similarities between Vietnam and Palestine, with Ambassador Shadi Abu Zarqa emphasizing the importance of promoting mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries, particularly through education and cultural exchange. He also expressed his hope that Vietnamese students would have more opportunities to learn about Palestine, its people, and its rich cultural heritage.

Both sides expressed interest in strengthening cooperation in education, academic and cultural exchange, and student engagement, including seminars, cultural activities, and opportunities to connect Palestinian students studying in Vietnam with ULIS students.

Literature was also identified as a promising area for cooperation, with potential activities including literary exchanges, cultural discussions, and initiatives introducing the literature and cultural heritage of Vietnam and Palestine.

Concluding the meeting, Vice President Hoa Ngọc Sơn and Ambassador Shadi Abu Zarqa expressed their hope that the proposed areas of cooperation would soon be translated into practical initiatives, contributing to greater mutual understanding, closer connections, and lasting friendship between Vietnam and Palestine.
