Welcome to the Department of Vietnamese Language and Culture. We are one of the most dynamic departments in the University of Languages and International Studies (ULIS) – Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU). We teach Vietnamese linguistics and culture for Vietnamese students in ULIS – VNU; Vietnamese language, Vietnamese for specific purposes and Vietnamese culture for foreign students.

  • Build up program, design teaching & learning plan; organize teaching and testing processes for those modules which are assigned to the department according to the University’s master plan.
  • Manage staff members of the department
  • Manage the quality, content, and methodology of teaching and research activities of the department.
  • Compile textbooks for those modules which are assigned to the department by the Rector.
  • Improve teaching & learning methods, submit proposals concerning the addition and maintenance of teaching & learning tools as well as experimental facilities.
  • Provide political & ideological education, and enhance professional skills for teaching staff. Support research staff and train teaching staff for specialized modules.
  • Manage the department’s facilities
  • Cooperate with individuals and organizations outside of the University in accordance with the law for the purpose of accomplishing the department’s missions.
  • Carry out other tasks assigned to the department by the Rector.
  • 2008: University preparatory course for Lao students
  • 2009: Short-term Vietnamese language course for volunteers of JICA, Japan
  • 2012: Vietnamese language and Vietnamese culture for police officials from Japan, China, Korea, Laos, Czech, Russia, Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, etc.
  • 2013: Vietnamese for students of Faculty of Vietnamese language of Guangxi University for Nationalities, China
  • 2014: Vietnamese for 20 officials from the National Assembly Office of Laos and Cambodia
  • 2016: Vietnamese for Korean students of K-move Program
  • 2017: Vietnamese for students of Keimyung University, Korea
  • 2018: Vietnamese for students of Tokyo Foreign Language College, Japan
  • 2019~Present: Various Vietnamese language courses for foreigners
