1.Academic background

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lam Quang Dong is currently ULIS Vice President and Editor-in-Chief of VNU Journal of Foreign Studies after serving as Head of the Faculty of English and subsequently ULIS Director of Research. He started delivering undergraduate courses in 1989, and having earned the degree of Master of Education in TESOL at Boston University, the USA, in 1995, he began his engagement with graduate training. The courses he taught include General English, English for Specific Purposes, English Grammar, Interpreter Training, Introduction to British and American Cultures, Language Learning Theories, Methodology in EFF/ESL, English Curriculum and Teaching Material Development, General Linguistics, Cognitive Linguistics and Semantics.

Prof. Dr. Lam Quang Dong’s major publications include the textbook English for Students of Law, VNU Press, 2002; monograph Representational Semantic Structure of Sentences with GIVE-type Predicates (in English and Vietnamese), Hanoi: Social Sciences Publisher, 2008; his Vietnamese translation (VNU Press, 2017) of The Semantics of English Prepositions: Spatial Scenes, Embodied Meaning and Cognition by Andrea Tyler and Vyvyan Evans, Cambridge: CUP, 2003; and various articles on Linguistics, Language and Life, Lexicography and Encyclopedia, and VNU Journal of Foreign Studies, along with several conference papers.
