FLSS’s team won the First Prize in the National English Speaking Contest 2018

Professionally and devotedly organized by ULIS-VNU, the contest witnessed many innovative, unique and artistic entries.

On November 2nd, 2018, ULIS solemnly organized the final round of the National English Speaking Contest 2018 under the theme ‘Our future life’.

Attending the event were Deputy Head of the Management Board of the National Foreign Language Project Nguyen To Chung; Deputy Head of VNU’s Politics and Student Affairs Office Nguyen Thi Hong Hanh. On the side of ULIS, there were Vice President Lam Quang Dong and leaders of the school’s units.

The event was also attended by representatives of the invited schools: Nam Dinh specialized high school, high school specialized teachers; Representatives of the sponsors and heads of parents of FLSS.

Particularly, there were contestants, representatives and fans from 6 high schools participating in the competition: Le Quy Don high school for gifted students, Da Nang; Hung Vuong High School for gifted students, Phu Tho; Ha Long High School for gifted students, Quang Ninh; Huynh Man Dat High School for gifted students, Kien Giang; Foreign Language specialized school; and Le Quy Don High School for gifted students, Binh Dinh.

At the beginning of the competition, the artistic societies of FLSS’s performed some special performances with charisma and full of energy to their delegates, audiences and fans in the auditorium.

Delivering his remarks at the contest, Vice President Lam Quang Dong recognized the significance and creativity of all 52 video entries in the preliminary round. Of those, 6 highest rated videos via the fanpage of the competition were shortlisted for the final round.

The Vice President states, “The National English Speaking Contest this year gives young people the opportunity to express themselves, to think about their own future and the future of our education system, and our country.”

The contest was divided into three sections: Greeting, Knowledge, and Debate. Candidates all demonstrated the mentality of dedication and showcased their presentation skills, teamwork skills, critical thinking and answering skills.

At the announcement of the results, the prizes were given to the teams as follows:

  • Grand Prize: Le Quy Don high school for gifted students, Da Nang.
  • First Prize: Foreign Language specialized school.
  • Second Prize: Giải Nhì: ; Hung Vuong High School for gifted students, Phu Tho and Le Quy Don High School for gifted students, Binh Dinh.
  • Third Prize: Ha Long High School for gifted students, Quang Ninh and Huynh Man Dat High School for gifted students, Kien Giang.
  • Favorite Clip Prize: Vinh Phuc High School for gifted students, Vinh Phuc.
