The Science and Technology  Office has the function of advising and assisting the President in managing and organizing scientific and technological research and fostering scientific research capacity for the University’s staff.

  • Advising on the development of the University’s science and technology, forming long -term and short-term plans, annual plans, sudden plans on research programs at all levels; developing and organizing investment on science and technology projects.
  • Organizing the development of documents, regulations on the management of scientific research and fostering scientific research capacity of the University’s staff.
  • Managing and supporting the activities of research programs; implementing procedures to review, test and evaluate scientific research projects. Proposing methods to reward and penalize.
  • Managing the VNU Journal of Foreign Studies under ULIS – VNU; organizing editing, reviewing, printing and publishing scientific publications of the University.
  • Organizing scientific conferences and seminars at all levels; participating in co-organizing conferences and scientific seminars related to the mission of the University.
  • Organizing the publication of monographs used in undergraduate and postgraduate training.
  • Organizing and managing scientific research work of full-time undergraduate students.
  • Researching and applying the results of scientific research and information technology in teaching – learning foreign languages; using the learning materials system for training and scientific research; guiding, monitoring, inspecting and implementing activities to foster scientific research capacity of the University’s staff.
  • Coordinating with the Personnel Organization Office in developing and managing scientific records of the University’s staff.
  • Coordinating with the Finance & Planning Office to plan and use science and technology budget.
  • Coordinating with the Cooperation and Development Office and other relevant departments to develop and organize the implementation of projects and programs on science.
  • Coordinating with the Center for Information Technology, Communication and Learning Resource, and Hanoi National University Information – Library Center to develop a scientific information and materials network inside and outside the University.
  • Preparing the content program of meetings of the Council of Education & Science.
  • Guiding and urging other departments to implement relevant quality assessment.
  • The Director of the Office is authorized to sign internal notices and conclude meetings within the field according to the President’s regulations.
  • Performing other duties assigned by the President.
  • Successfully developed and organized many projects at the University and VNU level.
  • Successfully organized many national and international conferences, particularly the National Scientific Conference on “Research and teaching foreign languages, languages ​​and international studies in Vietnam”; Coordinated with the National Foreign Language Project to successfully organize the International Conference on “Teaching and learning foreign languages ​​in the national education system in ASEAN countries” with the participation of numerous delegates from 9 ASEAN countries; Coordinated with One Asia Foundation to successfully organize the International Conference “One Asia Convention Hanoi 2018 – Hope for the Future” with the participation of more than 500 international delegates from more than 30 countries and territories.
  • Successfully organized scientific research conferences at the University level, some scientific research projects for students were awarded; coordinated with the Youth Union and Students’ Association to successfully organize the FIRE 1, FIRE 2 and FIRE 3.
  • Successfully organized professional seminars for the University’s staff.
  • On December 9th, 2016, the VNU Journal of Foreign Studies under the ULIS ​​- VNU, was officially licensed by the Ministry of Information and Communications.
  • The research team has operated effectively under the guidance of the Center for Language Testing and Assessment. VSTEP products have been delivered and officially used by the Ministry of Education and Training.
