Meeting on 2017 National Workshop and Students’ Scientific Research Conference in 2016-2017 academic year

On November 29, 2016, ULIS – VNU held a meeting as a preparation for the 2017 National workshop and students’ scientific research conference in the 2016-2017 academic year.

Chaired by Vice-President Nguyen Xuan Long, the meeting was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lam Quang Dong – Director of Science and Technology Office, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Hoang Ngan, Vice-director of Science and Technology Office, leaders and assistants of Scientific Research from other units.

At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Long emphasized that scientific and technological research was one of the outstanding activities of ULIS, implemented regularly and constantly. The focus on this activity has enhanced the prestige of the university. Of all activities related to science and technology at ULIS, the annual National Workshop and Students’ Scientific Research Conference were the most typical ones, attracting a great deal of public attention.

The first part of the meeting revolved around the 2017 National Workshop with the topic “Researching & teaching foreign languages and international studies in Vietnam”. Tentatively taking place on April 7th, 2017, the workshop aims to meet all the requirements of researching, teaching as well as learning foreign languages and international studies in the current context of globalization. Many lecturers and researchers both inside and outside the country registered for this workshop. First, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lam Quang Dong presented the preparation progress for the 2017 National Workshop. According to his presentation, the aspects such as content, personnel and facility were being actively carried out by related units.

The attendants also proposed many suggestions for the preparation of the workshop so that it would run smoothly and on schedule. These contributions were recognized and given serious consideration to by the Board of Organization.

After that, the meeting discussed Students’ Scientific Research Conference of the 2016 – 2017 academic year. In this period of time, there were a total of 201 registered scientific works of students. Among these, the typical ones were Faculty of Japanese Language and Culture (53 works), Faculty of Russian Language and Culture and Faculty of Korean Language and Culture (both 28 works), Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture (22 works), Faculty of German Language and Culture (21 works). These are prominent figures, showing ULIS student’s passion for science and technology.

Next, the participants also had discussions about issues related to the operation of scientific research works of students. Many opinions positively contributed to aspects such as format, content, mode, processes of organization and time of implementation of these works, etc. It can be seen clearly that scientific research of students is one of the most crucial activities in the training at ULIS.
