Signing Ceremony for the Co‑operation in Co‑operating the Gyeongbuk Hakdang Project in Hanoi

On June 9th, 2025, ULIS–VNU and Catholic Sangji University (South Korea) held a signing ceremony to formalize their cooperation in operating the Gyeongbuk Hakdang Project in Hanoi.

Representing ULIS were Vice Principal Ha Le Kim Anh – Hoa Ngoc Son, and representatives from the Office of Research and Partnerships, as well as the Faculty of Korean Language and Culture. From the Korean side, the event welcomed Mr. Kang Seok Hee, Ambassador for International Relations of Gyeongbuk Province; Dr. Cha Ho Cheol, President of Catholic Sangji University; Ms. Kim Yang Hee, Director of the Korean Language Education Institute; and delegates from other universities within the Gyeongbuk Province.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice President Hoa Ngoc Son expressed his appreciation to the Gyeongbuk delegation for choosing ULIS as a trusted partner in this meaningful project. He emphasized that Gyeongbuk is one of the most attractive destinations for Vietnamese students pursuing study abroad and highlighted ULIS’s strong expertise in language education, particularly in teaching Korean. He affirmed that this partnership would further contribute to ongoing educational activities and foster closer ties between the two institutions through student exchanges and community engagement

Mr. Kang Seok Hee, on behalf of Gyeongbuk Province, shared his expectations for the project to act as a cultural and educational bridge between the two countries. He expressed hope that the cooperation between Catholic Sangji University and ULIS would contribute positively to promoting mutual understanding and long-term collaboration.

President Cha Ho Cheol extended his gratitude to both Gyeongbuk Province and ULIS for their support, stating that this is not merely a study abroad initiative but a sustainable educational pathway designed to support international students, particularly Vietnamese students, in both their academic and personal development. He emphasized the project’s role in creating opportunities for language learning, cultural exchange, and professional growth.

Ms. Kim Yang Hee introduced the implementation plan of the Gyeongbuk Hakdang project, which focuses on three main goals: enhancing Korean language proficiency, increasing students’ understanding of Gyeongbuk Province, and improving adaptability through pre-departure training. She also confirmed that Catholic Sangji University would provide high-quality education and career support services for students participating in the program.

The ceremony concluded with the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), followed by a gift exchange and a commemorative group photo. This collaboration marks an important milestone in expanding international educational cooperation and offers promising opportunities for Vietnamese students to study and succeed in South Korea.
