2018 – 2019 summary conference for students of QH.2018 fast-track program

On May 3rd, 2019, ULIS – VNU held the 2018-2019 summary conference for QH.2018 fast-track program students at ULIS Sunwah Hall.

The conference was attended by Dr. Do Tuan Minh, ULIS President, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Long, ULIS Vice President; heads of units, including Academic Affairs Office, Politics and Student Affairs Office, General Administration Office, Youth Union, Students’ Association; heads of faculties having QH.2018 fast-track students, namely Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture (FCLC), Faculty of Korean Language and Culture (FKLC), Faculty of Japanese Language and Culture (FJLC); Management Board of Faculty of English; ULIS steering committee of fast-track programs in accordance with Circular No.23.

At the conference, representatives of different departments delivered reports on organizing training tasks and related activities for 2018 fast-track freshmen in the school year of 2018-2019, including training activity organization, student management and support, support activities held by the Youth Union and Students’ Association, student training and support activities offered by the relevant faculties.

The reports show that ULIS have wholeheartedly supported fast-track students. In the 2018-2019 academic year, they have been taught all courses, supported to register for their classes and to take English exams for class classification. ULIS held many activities for them such as Hello ULIS, Book review, ULIS chef, My class is the best, Club day, Oriental night, or series of soft-skill development, Korean culture day, Japanese culture day, Exploring Chinese mid-autumn culture day, experiencing Korean traditional games, studying Japanese tea art, introducing to calligraphy art or visiting foreign companies. There were activities only for fast-track students such as fast-track freshman meeting, learning material introduction workshop, workshop on IT applications for studying foreign languages. Estimatedly, more than half of fast-track students are taking part in the University’s clubs. Those activities not only help them study about cultures and languages of their majors but also create opportunities for them to develop their language and soft skills, to make new friends and to have meaningful campus time. They were also prioritized to receive scholarships, especially the ULIS Shine scholarship, which is only for fast-track students and worth 450 USD/semester.

At the same time, the steering committee of fast-track programs in accordance with Circular No.23 also usually organizes meetings with a view to improving the training quality. In addition, lecturers are facilitated to participate in series of workshops with an aim to developing soft skills for fast-track students in language practice units.

Also at the conference, students and lecturers talked, exchanged opinions and responded to inquiries. Concerns about tuition fee, activities for fast-track students, English learning program, facilities and others were answered in great details by the representatives of the university.

To conclude the conference, President Do Tuan Minh affirmed that students of QH.2018 fast-track programs were the first ones of ULIS in accordance with Circular No.23 and the University was very proud to be entrusted by such students. The fast-track programs are developed with a view to train high-quality students with fluency in two foreign languages, who are able to adapt quickly to the working environment and possess the qualities and skills of citizens of the globalization and the competitive 4.0 era. With such advantages, he affirmed that the programs needed to be popularized. Therefore, from the next year, ULIS will recruit students for other fast-track programs. Highlighting the importance of mastering two foreign languages ​​in the current context, the President advised students to actively learn English and their specialized foreign languages ​​as well as participate in extracurricular activities. Dr. Minh hoped that 309 students of QH.2018 fast-track students would continue to accompany the University and obtain meaningful experience in the 3 remaining years at ULIS.


The summary conference of the 2018 – 2019 academic year for students of QH.2018 fast-track programs came to a beautiful end. According to the plan, in the next summer, fast-track students can register to either study English or military training. During the 2019-2020 school year, students will continue to study Vietnamese and foreign language courses, with promises about new methods in courses such as Artistry, Physical Education, English, specialized foreign languages. Surely, the best is still waiting for students to discover in the next semester.
