2020 International Graduate Research Symposium and 10th East Asia Chinese Teaching Forum

On October 25th, 2020, ULIS-VNU held the 2020 International Graduate Research Symposium (IGRS) and the 10th East Asia Chinese Teaching Forum (EACTF).

Taking place online via Zoom application, this activity was organized to expand research environment and publish research results.

This year’s event was attended by many scholars from universities and educational institutions within Vietnam and from foreign countries, including the USA, France, Australia, China, Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

This year, the symposium was held concurrently with the 10th East Asia Chinese Teaching Forum (EACTF).

Delivering his speech at the opening ceremony, Vice President Lam Quang Dong believed that the event would continue its role of creating a forum for graduate students to share and discuss academic matters in order to reach out to academic communities, as while receiving comments and feedback from scholars to improve the quality of their research in future.

This year’s symposium received 168 quality papers from both international and Vietnamese scholars and graduate students.

In the plenary session, Prof. Raqid Chowdhury (Monash University, Australia), Prof. Rosemary Orlando (Southern New Hampshire University, USA), Prof. Zhou Xiaobing (Sun Yat-sen University, China), 3 keynote speakers, presented their papers.

After that, 152 papers were presented in 15 parallel sessions on Zoom.

The organizers awarded certificates of participation to speakers and honored the best papers in each session.

Earlier, ULIS also organized online pre-conference workshops for graduate students with presentations by Prof. Raqib Chowdhury (Australia) and Prof. Zhou Xiaobing (China).

The 2020 International Graduate Research Symposium (IGRS) and the 10th East Asia Chinese Teaching Forum (EACTF) ended successfully with the participation of about 350 people.
