On June 12th, 2024, ULIS – VNU held a briefing on tasks of the second quarter in 2024. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Long, ULIS President chaired the briefing. The briefing was also attended by Chairman of the Trade Union, Secretary of the Youth Union, representatives of departments of the University.

At the briefing, Director of the Personnel Organization Office Duong Quynh Hoa, read the decision to reappoint Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong the position of Director of the Inspection & Legal Affiars Office.

At the meeting, President Nguyen Xuan Long presented special awards to outstanding individuals and collectives including students of the University in the past quarter.

At the same time, the School presented certificates to the Board of Management of 5 Faculties whose training programs in Pedagogy achieved Certificate of Education Quality Accreditation from Vinh University during the quality accreditation period in December 2023.

Delivering his speech at the briefing, President Nguyen Xuan Long spoke highly of the efforts of all the departments in completing their tasks in the second quarter of 2024 with outstanding achievements.

Reports on the performance in the second quarter of 2024 and the plan for the third quarter of 2024 and reports on the implementation of working and training regulations were delivered at the briefing.

Prominent results in the second quarter of 2024:

1. Strengthened communications for successful enrollment of sufficient students with good quality at all levels;

2. Successfully organized UNC2024 (On April 20^th, 2024); FIRE DAY and 2024 Start-up Fire Ideas competition;

3. Conducted quality accreditation of UMS; finalized a draft self-assessment report on the master’s training program in English Theory and Teaching Methodology; effectively organized a pilot assessment of the Digital Competency Framework for 3 target groups at ULIS;

4. Launched and operated the Educational Support Channel for General Foreign Language Teachers (ULIS CONNECT); completed the Project to connect scholars and employers at ULIS-VNU;

5. Put Block A5 into effective use and operation; renovated, repaired and upgraded Block B2; completed the design of the School’s cultural and educational experiential learning area in Hoa Lac.

Crucial tasks in the third quarter of 2024:

1. To ensure quantity and quality of regular undergraduate and graduate enrollment (2nd round) in 2024;
2. To organize a conference of officials and employees to summarize the 2023-2024 school year; conference to review 5 years of ULIS Middle School (UMS) and new directions in the context of autonomy;
3. To review and adjust ULIS Development Strategy to 2030, vision to 2045 (issued under Decision No. 1068/QD-DHNN dated 26 July, 2021); complete the project on job positions associated with the salary mechanism and internal spending regulations of the Foreign Language Specialized School.
4. To renovate the organization of national conferences on researching and teaching foreign languages, linguistics and international studies in Vietnam (UNC); choose appropriate directions for science and technology activities and knowledge transfer at ULIS and VNU in the new context.
