Cooperative activities with Shizuoka University, Japan cemented
On June 17th, 2019, ULIS-VNU held a meeting with representatives of Shizuoka University (Japan) to discuss cooperative activities between the two universities.
ULIS and Shizuoka University have had many cooperative activities since 2014, such as opening a Shizuoka representative office at ULIS, granting scholarships to ULIS and FLSS students to study in Japan, exchanging lecturers and trainees and inviting ULIS staff to participate in scientific conferences. Every year, Shizuoka University also welcomes many ULIS staff for visits and business.
At the meeting, representatives of Shizuoka University introduced the Asia Bridge Program. This is a special program under an accord between businesses and Shizuoka University, which aims at supporting students from India, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and Myanmar. The program is designed to train future global leaders for businesses and society by working closely with global corporations based in Shizuoka. The 4-year program starts from October every year. Students have the opportunity to engage with many global companies through events inside and outside the University such as doing internships, attending lectures, seminars and workshops.
Shizuoka University representative suggested ULIS support the promotion of the program. On the side of the University, representatives of the University hope that in addition to the ongoing cooperation, Shizuoka University also assists in organizing job introduction, extracurricular activities for ULIS students in Japan.
