Exciting Atmosphere at the 2025 Gyeongbuk Korean Speaking Contest
On November 28, 2025, the 2025 Gyeongbuk Korean Speaking Contest took place at the University of Languages and International Studies – Vietnam National University, Hanoi (ULIS-VNU) within the framework of the Hanoi Gyeongbuk Hakdang project. The program was organized with the aim of promoting Vietnam-Korea cultural exchange and expanding academic and linguistic connections.

Attending the program from the University of Languages and International Studies were Dr. Tran Thi Huong – Dean of the Faculty of Korean Language and Culture, along with representatives of the Faculty’s staff, lecturers, and students, as well as the contestants and interested audience members.

Representing the partners and guests, the event was honored to welcome Ms. Kim Yang Hee – Director of Gyeongbuk Hakdang, lecturers from the Department of International Korean Language at Catholic Sangji College, along with Deans and Vice Deans of Korean language faculties from various universities, colleges, and high schools in the region, including Nguyen Trai University, Hanoi Polytechnic College, Hanoi University, and Phuong Dong University.



The ceremony opened in an atmosphere filled with excitement, featuring culturally rich performances presented by the students themselves. These performances contributed to creating a joyful and engaging atmosphere, marking an impressive start to the program.

In her opening remarks, Dr. Tran Thi Huong extended her sincere appreciation to the units and lecturers for their companionship, support, and dedication in organizing such a meaningful contest for the outstanding students of the Hanoi Gyeongbuk Hakdang project. She expressed her belief that the contest would become a memorable experience for the project’s students in particular, and for the entire community of students who love the Korean language in general.

Continuing the program, Ms. Kim Yanghee – Head of the Gyeongbuk Hakdang Project, expressed her honor to be part of the contest. She also extended her sincere gratitude to the contestants for their hard work and excellent performances throughout the program. She emphasized that learning the Korean language not only opens up opportunities for cultural connection but also provides a competitive advantage in the future.

Within the framework of the program, Ms. Kim Yanghee presented a commemorative plaque to Dr. Tran Thi Huong to acknowledge her positive contributions to implementing academic exchanges and promoting the movement of learning Korean. She also expressed a desire for long-term cooperation between the University of Languages and International Studies and the Gyeongbuk Hakdang project. The presentation ceremony took place in a solemn atmosphere, creating a meaningful highlight for the program.

Immediately following this, the Gyeongbuk Hakdang Korean Speaking Contest commenced amidst the enthusiastic cheers of the entire audience. The competition opened with an introduction of its objectives, evaluation criteria, and rules, ensuring that contestants clearly understood the guidelines and requirements before entering the official competition.




The contestants showcased their Korean language proficiency through various presentation formats, such as storytelling, speeches, and sharing perspectives. Many performances left a strong impression due to the participants’ confidence, meticulous preparation, and inspiring content. Each contestant took turns presenting their topic and answering questions, demonstrating not only their presentation skills but also their profound knowledge of both Vietnamese and Korean cultures.


Following each performance, the judges provided specific feedback, highly commending the confidence, idea development, and linguistic command of many contestants. These professional, yet approachable and supportive remarks provided the young students with added motivation and a clearer orientation for the development of their Korean language skills.


Alongside the competition rounds, the program also featured other exciting activities, such as a lucky draw and musical performances.One of the special highlights of the ceremony was the speeches delivered by two representatives of Vietnamese international students currently living and studying in Gyeongbuk: Mr. Truong Van Son and Mr. Pham Minh Dat. Their sincere sharing regarding daily life, the journey of learning Korean, and their experiences living in South Korea provided the program with a relatable perspective and inspiration for the students.


In the end, the Organizing Committee awarded prizes to the most outstanding contestants with one Special Prize, one Gold Prize, two Silver Prizes, two Bronze Prizes, and two Favorite Prizes. The program concluded with a commemorative photo session.
