Jubilantly celebrating Francophonie Day 2018
On March 18th, 2018, many activities and events were organized to celebrate Francophonie Day (March 20th) in the Compound of the Faculty of French Language and Culture. This is an annual event by University of Languages and International Studies – Vietnam National University, Hanoi (ULIS – VNU) in order to introduce and popularize French language and culture in Vietnam.
With the theme of “French – connect to act”, the ceremony included main observance at Vu Dinh Lien Amphitheater and other outdoor activities such as food festival, games, cultural booths, musical performances…
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the International Organization of Francophonie (OIF), the Embassies of French speaking countries, diplomatic and governmental agencies, international organizations, Vietnam National University (VNU), the University of Language and International Studies (ULIS) and other French teaching schools. In addition, there were representatives of business partners and journalists. The cultural festival attracted a large number of students from ULIS and other French teaching schools.
At the ceremony, Vice President Nguyen Xuan Long delivered his welcoming speech, attaching importance to the role of the Faculty of French Language and Culture (FFLC) in ULIS’s history. Also at the program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Lan Trung gave the decision of setting up the French Teachers’ Association in Hanoi to its Chairman, Dinh Hong Van.
Notably, this anniversary witnessed the signing of Memorandum of Understanding between ULIS and its partner companies: Easia Travel, Emotion Vietnam group, Amica Travel, Parfum d’Automne Travel, Horizon Vietnam Travel, Discovery Indochina Travel, Luxury Travel, Le Courrier du Vietnam, Asia Soleil Travel, Open Asia Group and Vietravel. This will be the premise for ULIS to organize employment activities for students of FFLC as well as other faculties.
