Laotian language class for ULIS staff in 2019 held

On March 26th, 2019, ULIS – VNU organized the opening ceremony of the first Lao class for its staff.

The ceremony was attended by President Do Tuan Minh; leaders of the Personnel Organization Office; Head of the Division of Linguistics & Cultures of Southeast Asia; and Laotian language lecturers.

Laotian language classes are opened in accordance with the University policy of developing new foreign languages. The Laotian class is taught by two Laotian language teachers, including a Laotian. The course consists of 13 classes. The University will award 5 scholarships to the staff with the best academic results.

Delivering his speech at the opening ceremony, President Do Tuan Minh said that the course was organized to encourage ULIS staff to keep on studying, create opportunities for Lao language teachers to practice teaching skills and seek positive factors to develop the Division.

From the 2019 – 2020 academic year, students of ULIS can register to study Laotian as a second foreign language.
