Meeting in Celebration of the 81st Anniversary of the Founding of the Vietnam People’s Army and the 36th Anniversary of the All-People’s National Defense Day
On December 18, 2025, University of Languages and International Studies, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (ULIS–VNU) organized a traditional meeting to celebrate the 81st anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People’s Army (December 22, 1944 – December 22, 2025) and the 36th anniversary of the All-People’s National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 – December 22, 2025).

Attending the meeting were Vice Rector Lam Quang Dong; the Chairperson of the University Trade Union; the Secretary of the Youth Union; the President of the Student Association; former military personnel currently working at the university; staff members who retired in 2025; self-defense militia soldiers; members of the Organizing Committee; and invited guests.

During the program, the university delegation visited the Hoa Lo Prison Relic Site. There, participants listened to guided presentations and directly observed documents and artifacts reflecting the steadfast and indomitable fighting spirit of revolutionary soldiers imprisoned under the colonial regime. The sacred atmosphere of what was once known as a “hell on earth” enabled members of the delegation to gain a deeper understanding of the great sacrifices made by previous generations for the independence and freedom of the nation.


The meeting was not only an opportunity to learn about the nation’s heroic tradition of struggle and the noble qualities of earlier generations, but also contributed to fostering patriotism and nurturing revolutionary heroism among university staff, lecturers, and students.

On this occasion, University of Languages and International Studies, Vietnam National University, Hanoi presented meaningful gifts as a gesture of gratitude to former military personnel and self-defense militia members.

The meeting concluded with a warm and friendly social gathering.
