Prom “From Hanoi to Moscow 2018”: A hallmark of the Faculty of Russian Language and Culture (FRLC)

On April 27th, 2018, the FRLC (Faculty of Russian Language & Culture), the University of Languages and International Studies – Vietnam National University, Hanoi (ULIS – VNU), in collaboration with the Russian Study Room (International School – VNU) greatly held the Prom “From Hanoi to Moscow” following the flush of success of previous seasons.

Prom “From Hanoi to Moscow” is one of the annual events for lecturers and students of the FRLC (ULIS – VNU). The prom is an outstanding activity in terms of culture and art, which attracts special attention from a number of students in universities, high schools, academies, centres, faculties and Russian teaching divisions not only in Hanoi but in other areas as well.


Many guests attended and enjoyed the prom with FRLC’s teachers and students such as Mr. Vladimir Shustov – The first Secretary of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Vietnam; Ms. N.A. Kutyreva – representative of the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Hanoi, who is responsible for Russian propaganda programs in Vietnam and Mr. Y. V. Kutyrev – the Vice Principal of Russian high school under the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Vietnam; Mr. Nguyen Lai – Member of the Executive Board of Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association in Hanoi. The event also witnessed the participation of delegations representing teachers and students from many units such as Military Technical Academy, Military Science Academy, Vietnam-Russia Tropical Center, Foreign Trade University, Hanoi Law University, Puskin Russian Language Institute in Hanoi, Bien Hoa Specialized High School in Ha Nam, Foreign Language Specialized School (ULIS – VNU), Russian high school under the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Vietnam, the Association of FRLC’s Former Teachers, etc. The prom also attracted the attention of press agencies, including VTV and Nhan Dan Online .

The audience submerged themselves into the atmosphere of Russian festivals, had the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of Russia’s soul through the flexible yet vibrant dances of Russia (xứ sở bạch dương) such as cheerful traditional Kharvodod dance, joyful Ka-lin-ka song, sweet melody of “the shores” (Đôi bờ) song, etc. The sincerity, purity, happiness in Russia’s characteristics were skillfully performed by artists through moving love songs, attractive dances, national colorful costumes, which greatly pleased and excited the audience.


The prom ended in the atmosphere of a farewell ceremony of QH2014 seniors, marking their maturity and expressing their profound gratitude to teachers as well as belief in the next generations of students.

“From Hanoi to Moscow” has been considered as the hallmark of FRLC (ULIS – VNU) for years. The success of this prom consolidated the FRLC’s position and contributed to the promotion of Russian in Vietnam. ‘From Hanoi to Moscow” is a magnet connecting those who love Russian language and people not only in FRLC but also in all over the nation, thereby contributing to the development of time-tested friendship between Vietnam and Russia.
