The 11th Presentation Contest on Asian Community Studies

On December 18, 2024, the University of Languages and International Studies – Vietnam National University, Hanoi (ULIS – VNU) organized the 11th Presentation Contest on Asian Community Studies. This event was a part of the Asian Community Studies course, taught by the Department of Vietnamese Language and Culture.

The program was attended by Vice President Hoa Ngoc Son, representatives from various units, leaders and lecturers of the Department of Vietnamese Language and Culture, and students taking the course.

In his opening remarks, Vice President Hoa Ngoc Son reaffirmed the university’s commitment to the development of the Asian Community Studies course. Dr. Hoa Ngoc Son also expressed his joy at the increasing number of ULIS students enrolling in the course each year, this demonstrated the students’ interest and enthusiasm for the course.

Dr. Tran Huu Tri – Dean of the Department of Vietnamese Language and Culture, expressed his gratitude to all students participating in the Asian Community Studies course. He encouraged them to continue nurturing their passion for the subject, particularly by choosing to develop scientific research topics to delve deeper into the rich aspects of Asian culture and hoped that every teams would try their best to in this event.

Each presentation showcased the students’ exploration, presentation skills, and adaptability. Six teams competed, presenting on the following topics. 

  • Class 23 (Group 8): Cultural Appropriation of Asian Fashion in the Global Arena: Lessons from Christian Dior’s Fall 2022 Collection.
  • Class 23 (Group 21): Current Status and Opportunities for Climate Change Education Among High School Students at Van Xuan High School, Hoai Duc, Hanoi (2023–2024).
  • Class 24 (Group 28): Exploring the Fusion of Folk Music and Modern Music in Vietnam through Program 4 of “The Elder Brother Conquers Endless Challenges.”
  • Class 25 (Group 5): Research on the Effectiveness of Applying the WEBQUEST Method in Teaching “Practical Vietnamese” to Students.
  • Class 25 (Group 28): India’s “Act East” Policy Toward Southeast Asian Countries Amidst Competition with China: Opportunities and Challenges.
  • Class 26 (Group 2): Media Coverage of the Middle East in Vietnam: The Case of Vietnamnet and Its Impact on Cultural Stereotypes Among Students of the Faculty of English Language Teacher Education, ULIS.

Results: The judging panel announced the following winners:

  • First Prize: Group 2 (Class 26).
  • Second Prize: Group 8 (Class 23) and Group 21 (Class 23).
  • Third Prize: Group 28 (Class 24), Group 5 (Class 25), and Group 28 (Class 25).

The 11th Presentation Contest on Asian Community Studies concluded after a vibrant competition, providing the audience with many valuable and interesting insights.
