The Hangeulnal Festival 2025 for students in ULIS
On October 19, 2025, the University of Languages and International Studies – Vietnam National University (ULIS – VNU), organized the Hangeulnal for students 2025. The event was held in a dynamic and energetic atmosphere, with a range of unique activities that allowed students to experience and discover Korean culture while cultivating a love for the land of Kimchi.

The Hangeulnal festival is a meaningful event held to commemorate the creation of the Hangeul alphabet. In 1443, the Hangeul was invented by King Sejong, with the assistance of other scholars and was officially promulgated in 1446. Since then, the Hangeul has become a vital means of communication, and preservation and dissemination of Korean culture, which is also widely used and studied by scholars all over the world for its scientific structure, simplicity, and practicality.
Attending the festival, from the ULIS, were Vice Rector Hoa Ngoc Son; representatives of various departments within the university; the Board of Deans, faculty members, and the students of Faculty of Korean Language and Culture. On the guests’ side, the event welcomed representatives from diplomatic missions, faculties training Korean language institutions coming from the North and Central of Vietnam, as well as sponsors and enterprises. The event particularly attracted great interest from young people inside and outside Hanoi who participated.



In the opening remarks, the Vice Rector Hoa Ngoc Son emphasized that the meaning of Hangeulnal day lies not only in helping the students consolidate their knowledge but also providing them with opportunities to explore Korean culture and humanity. As a long-standing traditional institution of Korean language education in Vietnam, our school is greatly honored for being chosen as the venue for the Hangeulnal festival 2025.
During the event, the Organizing Committee presented commemorative medals to express gratitude to the partner organizations and awarded certificates to participating units, reaffirming the spirit of solidarity and appreciation for their support in spreading the festive spirit.



Within the framework of this year’s Hangeulnal Festival, a variety of engaging activities took place, including Korean language and culture contests, culinary experiences, traditional games, and photo opportunities in a miniature Korean-themed space.
The competition relating to Korea aimed at challenging participants’ knowledge of the Korean language and culture, created an atmosphere of excitement and enthusiastic competition among the contestants in the hall.




In addition, the Student Talent Competition added a special vibrancy to the festival. The performances of singing, dancing, and Korean-inspired artistic showcases not only demonstrated the students’ creativity and talent but also reflected their deep affection and connection to Korean culture.







At the end of the competitions, the Organizing Committee presented awards to the outstanding contestants and teams. The First Prize in the Korea Quiz was awarded to Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai from the ULIS – VNU; the First Prize in the T-shirt Decoration Contest went to Tran Thi Thuy Ha from CMC University; the First Prize in the Tent Decoration Contest was granted to the University of Languages and International Studies – VNU; and the First Prize in the Talent Competition was awarded to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – VNU. These awards served as a well-deserved recognition of the contestants/ teams efforts and enthusiastic participation.




Within the framework of the festival, students were also immersed in a vibrant and colorful miniature Korean cultural space through various food booths and traditional game experience zones. Here, participants had the opportunity to enjoy traditional games, try on Hanbok, and taste famous Korean dishes. These engaging cultural exchange activities offered students a valuable opportunity to explore and fully appreciate the beauty of Korean culture.
The 2025 Hangeulnal Festival brought a joyful and festive atmosphere, vividly showcasing the rich cultural colors of Korea and offering a wide range of exciting experiences for numerous visitors. The event also reaffirmed the important role of the University of Languages and International Studies in promoting and developing Korean language education in Vietnam.
