Only established in December 2016, the Center for Resources Development of the University of Languages and International Studies – Vietnam National University has accomplished all the set objectives as well as obtained many achievements. So what is the secret of this Center to achieve these in such a short time? Let’s talk with Director of the Center for Resources Development, M.A. Nguyen Van Son.

Interviewer: First, ULIS Media would like to thank you for accepting the invitation to the talk today. As far as we are concerned, the Center has only been established for almost 2 years, exactly from December 2016. However, with the function of managing and exploiting ULIS’s resources, the Center has accomplished all the objectives as well as obtained many achievements. So please tell us what is the secret of the Center to get these in such a short time?

Director Nguyen Van Son: In my opinion, the key point of success is the direct stewardship of ULIS’s leaders and the close coordination of other functional units with the Center. In addition, ULIS’s activities for students and fundamental changes in the awareness of civil servants and officials about the training management and education support show that ULIS is aiming to perfect services.

That is also the goal of our Center. For us, to provide perfect services, we need to pay great attention to the smallest and most common details. Bringing satisfaction to students as well as guests visiting and working with ULIS is always our credo. Therefore, with the enthusiasm and seriousness in the work, we have, to some extent, achieved such positive results in a short time.

Interviewer: So which fields or which aspects that the Center has been providing?

Director Nguyen Van Son: According to its function and mission, the Center is working in these following fields:

Firstly, giving ULIS’s President advice on managing the exploitation of its assets.

Secondly, acting as a focal point for the President in managing the University facility exploitation after they were in use and accomplish all political missions, thereby maximizing the capacity and function of ULIS’s assets, increase the income and reinvest facility resources. We focus on site exploitation, especially empty spaces such as parking lots, kiosks, after-working-hour classrooms as well as specialized rooms such as laboratory rooms, computer system, interpretation booths, studios, etc.

Thirdly, the Center will directly receive and utilize some ULIS’s facilities when this facility system completes its political missions, contribute some additional income to the university via exploiting the halls, conference rooms, small meeting rooms at ULIS-SUNWAH Building and Sports Complex.

In addition to activities that have been operating in the most professional way, the Center will soon have more extensive activities which target potential customers and partners outside ULIS in such areas as opening short-term specialized training classes for employees; recruiting staff to work in Japan and opening summer camps for students. The purpose is to introduce ULIS not only as a perfect environment for training programs but also as a diversified university with modern services, which will be directed towards serving ULIS’s students and staff as well as enterprises and employees outside ULIS.

Interviewer: As you mentioned “ULIS: towards perfect services” – that is an impressive slogan, please let us know that on the way to get the perfection, would your center have any plan to upgrade services that you are exploiting?

Director Nguyen Van Son: Talking about perfect services, I mean the services have to meet all requirements, in other words, satisfy all customers. Therefore, our center continuously creates, improves, adds facilities, and raises the quality of enclosing services. We also maintain and mend the equipment in all areas. After the customers used our services, we always listen to their reflections, and try to make the most positive changes to satisfy them next times.

In addition, our center always pays great attention to the training for our staff and monitor them in order to have an effective and professional group of staff.

Interviewer:  And the last question, with the University slogan “Creating Opportunities Together”, what are the opportunities offered by the Center to students (students, staff, and other potential customers) as well as what opportunities will the Center receive?

Director Nguyen Van Son: As the slogan of the University: “Creating opportunities together”, visitors come to our center will have the opportunity to experience perfect services, from training to facility services.

With the students, they not only enjoy convenient and professional services but also self-create such services. Specifically, we can recruit ULIS’s students to work part-time for the Center. In this way, they can not only make some money, but also expose to the real-world working environment and enrich their internship records after graduation.

With our customers, we offer real values in our services. They come to us not just to use certain facilities but to sample the professionalism, dedication and thoughtfulness in every single service we provide them. As a result, their events will be successfully held by us and we can add more values to their event. It is the way to create opportunities together.

By those specific tasks, I believe that our center will continue to receive the support from ULIS’s leaders, relevant departments and all ULIS’s students. We are ready to take on new challenges and opportunities, to cooperate with enterprises as well as to work together in short-term thematic classes and training services.
