ULIS’s student won the first prize in the 2017 Writing Contest on the Europe Union

On September 13th 2017, Award Ceremony for the 2017 writing contest on the Europe Union took place at Vu Dinh Lien Amphitheater, University of Languages and International Studies, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (ULIS-VNU).

In the celebration of 60th anniversary of the Europe Union and “Europe Days 2017” program, EU Delegation at Vietnam and Vietnam Student Newspaper jointly organized the writing contest with three topics, “European Cultural Diversity”, “Technology and Innovation”, “European Integration”. The awards for three first prizes are three trips to Europe. ULIS is honored to be the coordinator to organize the award ceremony for this contest.

From diplomatic offices, Mr. Bruno Angelet – The Ambassador/Head of the Delegation of the European Union in Vietnam, Mr. Bertrand Lortholary – Ambassador of the Embassy of France in Vietnam, Mr. Nicolo Costantini – the First Secretary of the Embassy of Italy in Vietnam. Mr. Ha Ngoc Anh – Deputy Head of Central Commission for Mass Mobilization attended the ceremory.
On the Vietnam students newspaper side, the ceremony received the participation of journalist Nguyen Huy Loc – Chief Editor; Journalist Nguyen Quoc Trien – Deputy Chief Editor; Journalist Le Thanh Ha – Deputy Chief Editor.
On the side of ULIS, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Minh Thuy – ULIS’s Vice President, Representatives of Department of Political and Student Affairs, Dean of the Faculty of French Languages and Culture and nearly 200 students presenting at the ceremony.

In his opening remarks, journalist Nguyen Huy Loc, editor-in-chief of Vietnam Student Newspaper/Co-organizer of the Competition, said that the 2017 European Union writing competition had been launched in May 2017 and attended by more than 3,000 students, young people under 35 years old throughout the country.

Mr Bruno Angelet, Ambassador/Head of the Delegation of the European Union in Vietnam, expressed that he was delighted that the competition had received enthusiastic response from Vietnamese youth. He highly appreciated the quality and quantity of this year’s competition and hoped to have more young people participating in future competitions.
At the award ceremony, three first prizes were presented to Luong Hoang Mai (Topic: Technology and Innovation), Dang Ha Thanh Van (Topic: The European Cultural Diversity) and Nguyen Huong Thao (Topic: The European Integration). Nguyen Huong Thao is a sophomore of Faculty of French Language and Culture (ULIS – VNU). The article with meaningful content and lively display received praises from Nicolo Costantini, the First Secretary of the Italian Embassy in Vietnam. Huong Thao received the award of a seven-day trip to poetic Italy.



The award ceremony for writing competition on the European Union in 2017 finished successfully with many promises for the next year’s competition.

Before the Award Ceremony of the European Union writing competition in 2017, ULIS graciously welcomed guests at A1 building. In this meeting, on behalf of the Board of Management, the Vice-president Thuy extended her greeting to the guests and expressed the honor when ULIS was chosen as the venue of the award ceremony.
