40th anniversary of the establishment of the Faculty of Language Education & Professional Development

Over the course of 40 years, the Faculty of Language Education & Professional Development has overcome countless difficulties and challenges, especially in the early stages. However, with the determination and efforts of all generations, the Faculty of Language Education & Professional Development has been keeping on track and promoting what the first generation had achieved in addition to constant changes to meet the educational needs of the new era.

On November 3rd, 2018, ULIS-VNU celebrated the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Faculty of Language Education & Professional Development (formerly known as Faculty for In-service Training) under the theme “Follow previous generations’ footsteps”.

Attending the event were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Van Huong, Head of VNU’s Politics and Student Affairs Office / President of VNU trading union; Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Huu and Mr. Nguyen To Chung, Head and Deputy Head of the Management Board of the National Foreign Language Project; Mr. Nguyen Van Loi, Director of Department of Personnel Organization/General Department of Customs; Mrs. Marie-Françoise MONTAUBIN, Vice-Chancellor of Picardie University Jules Verne (France); Ms. Vicky Teo, Associate Program Coordinator with Southern New Hampshire University (USA); Mr. Xu Kui Ying – Director of Taiwan Education Center, Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages, Taiwan; representatives of the Departments of Education and Training; Representatives from universities and partner institutions in Vietnam.

From the ULIS side, Vice President Ngo Minh Thuy; Vice President Lam Quang Dong; former school leaders of all periods, representatives of unit leaders, former teachers, international staff, alumni, and students attended the event.

The event started with a number of art performances given by the students of the Faculty. These performances were delivered special and lively made the atmosphere of the ceremony exciting.

Delivering his remarks at the ceremony, Dr. Hoa Ngoc Son joyfully recalled 40 years of the great contributions of all generations of teachers and students who have been dedicating to the development of the Faculty of Language Education & Professional Development.

The Faculty received the “Emulation Flag of the Ministry of Education and Training” 

At the ceremony, the Faculty of Language Education & Professional Development received the “Emulation Flag of the Ministry of Education and Training” for outstanding achievements in the emulation movement “Innovation, creativity in teaching and learning “in the 2017-2018 school year.

Extending her congratulations, Vice President Ngo Minh Thuy – Head of the Organization Board stated that the 40th anniversary of the Faculty’s establishment was a moment of pride, a common joy not only of all the generations of staff members, lecturers, and students of the Faculty of Language Education & Professional Development, but also the joy and excitement of the University as a whole.

Vice President expected that the Faculty would continue to work harder to contribute to building the University and to become a focal point for foreign language training and fostering, contributing positively to develop the foreign language education of the country.

Ms. Nguyen Minh Chau, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Lang Son highly appreciated the achievements of the Faculty in 40 years. She also shared about the “Lang Son Program” and expressed her belief that the Faculty will continue to develop strongly in the future.

Previously, on November 2nd, 2018, within the framework of celebrating activities, the Faculty held a Student’s Got Talent Contest with many excellent singing items from students of the Faculty.
