Working with experts of CATALYST Project
On September 19th, 2018, Ms. Ngo Minh Thuy – ULIS’s Vice President welcomed Mr. Cullen Gerard – Development Manager of Tempus Project and Ms. Sandra Erdmann – Officer of Dresden University of Technology within the framework of CATALYST Project (Communicative Approaches in University Vocational Teaching Methodology focusing on Improving Educational Yield and Sustainability) sponsored by European Union’s Erasmus+ Organization.
The meeting was also attended by Dr. Do Minh Hoang – Director of Cooperation and Development Office, Dr. Vu Hai Ha – Dean of the Faculty of English Language Teacher Education (FELTE), M.A. Phung Thi Kim Dung – Vice Dean of FELTE and other members of the project.
In the working session, Ms. Ngo Minh Thuy thanked two experts of Erasmus+ Organization for giving ULIS an opportunity to participate in the project and cooperate with domestic and international universities. The project provided financial and academic supports to participatory students and lecturers and experience in work and international cooperation as well as contributing to the promotion and dissemination of ULIS’s image to the network of international universities.
Ms. Ngo Minh Thuy also expressed the hope of ULIS to continue cooperating in joint projects among universities in the future with a view to developing the capacity of higher education institutions in developing countries like Vietnam; improving and modernizing the higher education system and supporting the counterparts, especially Asian countries. On the partner side, Mr. Cullen Gerard also showed his expectation of continuous cooperation and shared some ideas about projects in the future in which he hoped that ULIS would be an active member. He emphasized that in the future, with the strength in training programs, ULIS had many opportunities to participate in EU’s projects related to foreign language training and education, research program development, student exchange in EU-Share and Eramus Mundus programs.
The working session ended successfully and created more international cooperation opportunities among ULIS, organizations, domestic and international partners.
Catalyst project under the Erasmus + Education Project from the EU, officially launched in December 2016 with 6 members in Vietnam working under coordination from the EU. The total value of the project is about 1.5 million euros, which is provided directly to its members. The project focuses on enhancing the productivity and stability of education and the learner-centered teaching method. The new approach promises to open up a more active learning environment for students.
