Opening Ceremony of the International Joint Master’s Program – Cohort PG50 in Teaching English as a Foreign Language

On January 8, 2026, the University of Languages and International Studies – Vietnam National University, Hanoi (ULIS – VNU) held the Opening Ceremony of the International Joint Master’s Program – Cohort PG50, majoring in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, in cooperation with Southern New Hampshire University (USA).

Attending the ceremony were Vice President Ha Le Kim Anh; representatives of leaders of functional units; the Program Management Board; lecturers and staff of the Faculty of International Education; and 47 students of Cohort PG50.

In her opening remarks, Vice President Ha Le Kim Anh congratulated the students of Cohort PG50 and emphasized the role and significance of the international joint Master’s program in the University’s postgraduate training development and international integration strategy. She expressed her hope that the students would gain valuable knowledge, experience, and meaningful learning journeys throughout the program.

On behalf of the students, a representative of Cohort PG50 presented flowers to Vice President Ha Le Kim Anh.

At the ceremony, Dr. Tran Thi Thu Hien, Head of the Faculty of International Education, announced the admission decisions and officially recognized the student status of the students enrolled in the International Joint Master’s Program – Cohort PG50, majoring in Teaching English as a Foreign Language.

Representing the students of Cohort PG50, student Nguyen Thi Thu expressed her honor in becoming a member of the program and affirmed her determination to study seriously and strive to successfully complete all academic requirements of the course.

Also at the ceremony, Dr. Tran Thi Thu Hien introduced an overview of the training program. Accordingly, the program consists of 15 modules with a total of 45 credits and a training duration of 18 months, divided into two stages. Stage 1 focuses on foundational and prerequisite modules, while Stage 2 requires students to meet the required GPA and complete advanced modules.

The program is delivered by lecturers from ULIS – VNU and Southern New Hampshire University. Upon completion, students will be awarded a Master’s degree by Southern New Hampshire University, and the academic transcript will be jointly issued by ULIS and Southern New Hampshire University. Relevant regulations and important information related to the program were also shared with the students.

Following that, a Q&A session took place in an open and serious atmosphere. Students raised questions related to the study roadmap, academic requirements, assessment methods, and program regulations, which were directly addressed by representatives of the Faculty of International Education.

The Opening Ceremony of the International Joint Master’s Program – Cohort PG50 concluded in a joyful atmosphere and ended with a group photo session, marking the beginning of a new academic journey for the students.
