Celebration of the International Day of Arabic Language in 2018 at the ULIS held
On the occasion of the International Day of Arabic Language December 18th, ULIS – VNU organized the International Arabic Language Day 2018 at Sunwah Hall.
Attending the ceremony were representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations such as the United Arab Emirates, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, the State of Palestine, the Republic of Libya, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kingdom of Oman, and Kingdom of Morocco.
There are also representatives from government agencies, representatives from the Institute of African Studies and the Middle East, the Academy of Social Sciences of Vietnam; Representatives of International Cooperation Department and Ministry of Education and Training.
On the side of ULIS, President Do Tuan Minh, Vice President Ngo Minh Thuy, Vice President Lam Quang Dong, Vice President Nguyen Xuan Long, Former President Nguyen Duc Chinh; Chairman of the Advisory Board for Development Cooperation Nguyen Lan Trung; representatives of units; leaders, staff, lecturers, students, and alumni of the Division of Language & Culture.
Delivering his opening speech, President Do Tuan Minh shared the role and mission of the University in the development of Arabic language and Arabic culture in Vietnam. Thus, ULIS decided to make December 18th become an annual celebration of the University.
On this occasion, the UAE Embassy in Vietnam donated US$ 5,000 to the Division to open its own library.
At the event, former President Nguyen Duc Chinh shared that with the desire for Vietnamese students in particular and Vietnamese people in general to explore this brilliant and mysterious Arab civilization, he had made the decision to make the establishment of Division of Arabic Language and Culture.
To encourage and praise the learning spirit of students of the Division, the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Vietnam presented 3 gifts to 3 students with excellent academic achievements, including Nguyen Anh Thu (Class 16A1), Trinh Van Quang (Class 17A1), and Do Thi Phuong (Class 18A1).
At the ceremony, guests also had chance to explore a space of Arab Cultue right inside the Sunwah Hall.
