Closing ceremony of Vietnamese language and culture course for students of COE (USA)
On April 19th, 2019, ULIS – VNU held the closing ceremony of the Vietnamese language and culture course for students of COE (United States).
The ceremony was attended by Vice President Lam Quang Dong, Director of the International Education Center Le The Quy, staff of the Faculty of Language Education & Professional Development, staff and students of COE, and ULIS volunteer students.
This course lasted from February 25th to April 19th, 2019 with a lot of activities organized for American students to experience such as playing traditional Vietnamese games, visiting Ngoc Son temple and the Old Quarter, playing games to discover and learn about Hanoi, visiting Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, making pottery in Bat Trang, visiting the Women’s Museum, making Vietnamese dishes and so on. Particularly, they had fieldtrips to TV stations, Viettel companies and some other businesses.
Delivering his speech at the ceremony, Vice President affirmed that the American students who came to experience life in Vietnam would contribute to increasing mutual understanding between the two countries and believed that they had achieved a lot during the past 2 months.
Mr. David Nordmann, COE staff member confirmed that the COE students who decided to participate in this program was very admirable for bravely stepping out of their comfort zone to experience the new things.
Hannah Pautler – US students said that she would treasure every moment that she had experienced during her time in Vietnam and affirmed that she had gained a lot and became more mature.
After that, representatives of the two schools gave certificates of completion to American students and certificates of volunteering for ULIS students.
