Commemorative Meeting for the 100th Anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day

On the morning of June 17th, 2025, the University of Languages and International Studies -VNU held a meeting to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 – June 21, 2025). The event was not only an opportunity for the University to meet and express gratitude to journalists and media professionals, but also a chance to reflect on the journey of development and innovation of revolutionary journalism over the past century.

The meeting was attended by the University’s Board of Rectors; representatives of departments and units in charge of media, journalism, and publications; along with numerous journalists from prominent media agencies such as Tien Phong Newspaper, Dân trí Newspaper, VietnamNet, VnExpress, the Vietnam Education Electronic Magazine, Hanoi Radio and Television, Dan Viet Newspaper, and others.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Long – Rector of the University of Languages and International Studies – expressed sincere gratitude to journalists and communication professionals who had consistently accompanied the University in its journey to spread knowledge and educational values.

During the meeting, three meaningful videos were presented, showcasing the development journey of the journalism profession, highlighting the University’s notable media activities from 2020 to 2025, and introducing a series of events leading up to the 70th Anniversary of the University of Languages and International Studies – Vietnam National University, Hanoi (ULIS – VNU). Notably, the “Student Media Ambassador” model – an innovative initiative currently being effectively implemented by ULIS – was introduced. This program has played an important role in nurturing students’ passion for journalism and providing them with hands-on experiences while still in university

Journalist Nguyan Tuan Anh, representative of Tien Phong Newspaper, shared practical and insightful perspectives on modern media trends: “In the digital era, mainstream journalism remains a solid pillar for shaping public opinion.” He also recommended that universities, including ULIS, should simultaneously focus on building a strong internal brand while actively promoting information across multi-channel media platforms—particularly through mainstream journalism and social media.

Speaking at the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Lan Trung – Chairman of the ULIS Alumni Network – shared profound insights on the essential yet highly demanding nature of journalism, especially in today’s context of rapidly growing social media. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Lan Trung also expressed his hope that the close, sincere, and effective relationship between the press and the university will continue to be fostered and developed in the future.

The meeting also served as a valuable opportunity for staff members, students, journalists, and communication experts to exchange ideas, offer feedback, and propose creative initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of communication work in an academic environment. It also opened up promising opportunities for future collaboration in media and educational activities.

As part of the program, ULIS presented tokens of appreciation to journalists and representatives of staff and students involved in journalism and communication, as a heartfelt gesture of thanks for their quiet yet meaningful contributions. The meeting concluded in a warm, intimate atmosphere, filled with gratitude and sincere appreciation.
