On September 8th 2018, ULIS – VNU solemnly held a conference of civil servants and officials of the academic year 2017-2018.

The conference was attended by Ms. Nguyen Thi Thao – Vice President of VNU’s Trade Union, Dr. Do Tuan Minh – ULIS’s President, Dr. Lam Quang Dong – ULIS’s Vice President, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Long – ULIS’s Vice President and more than 500 civil servants and officials of the University.

At the conference, M.A Nguyen Van Doan – President of ULIS’s Trade Union informed results of the Conference of civil servants and official at the lower units, reported achievements in the academic year 2017-2018 and made a plan for the next academic year. The report clearly showed the interest of the institutional Party, Executive Board and Trade Union of ULIS in the material and mental life of civil servants and officials of the University. The interest was expressed through practical activities aiming to ensure the benefits of outstanding groups and individuals as well as encourage them to try their best. In the school year 2018-2019, ULIS’s Trade Union requests units to continue promoting emulation movements such as good teaching and good study, good and creative working manner, balance between work and domestic affairs, green lifestyle, professional development…so that each lecturer will set a good example of morality, self-study and creativity.

The 2016-2018 operational report of People’s Inspection Board and the 2018-2020 agenda were delivered at the conference. In the report, Director Pham Duc Trung stated that the previous curriculum was carried out in line with the Board’s plan. The report also touched upon some ideas that were made by the University’s units. In the next school year, the Board will continue to monitor ULIS’s activities closely and complete all the assigned tasks.

At the conference, Pham Duc Trung, Doan Thi Hong Hai, Nguyen Viet Quang, Le Thi Thanh Ha, and Nguyen Tien Dung were elected to be members of the 2018-2020 People’s Inspection Board.

The conference also listened to the report on revenue, expenditure and welfare work of the university. M.A Le Thi Khanh Trang, Head of Finance and Planning Office, presented the data and activities of finance and planning in 2017-2018 and the plan for 2018-2019.

The conference agenda also included three presentations on topics: Facilities – Equipment, Development and Cooperation, Student Affairs. The reports shared the actual situation of ULIS with these three issues and development orientations in this school year.

At the conference, President Do Tuan Minh reported on the implementation of the conference’s resolution, reviewed the school year 2017-2018 and outlined tasks and plans for 2018-2019. The President conveyed his specific messages to each of ULIS’s activities, especially emphasized the emulation and commendation with the expectation that this activity would be implemented in a more timely manner, with greater impact on the whole University’s staff. Summarizing the conference, President Do Tuan Minh confirmed that in the last school year, ULIS – VNU overcame some certain difficulties to achieve success in many fields (high-quality training and good enrolment, expended development and cooperation relationships, ULIS’s increasing prestige, increasingly improved and strengthened facilities, clearly defined development orientations…). He said that there would be new challenges in the school year 2018-2019 and the responsibility of ULIS’s staff was to turn those challenges into opportunities for growth.

After prompt and serious working sessions, the Conference of Civil Servants and Official in the academic year 2017-2018 ended in an atmosphere of unity and high determination of delegates. The conference approved the resolution to call on all civil servants and officials of the University with the spirit of democracy and solidarity, promoting traditions and gained achievements, striving to accomplish political tasks of the school year, creating a solid foundation for the next years and contributing to the development of ULIS.
