On the evening of May 27, 2025, via Zoom Webinar, ULIS held a conference to implement the digital transformation plan for CNN and UMS for the 2025–2030 period. The conference aimed to promote the application of AI in school governance, teaching, assessment, and school-family-student interactions.

Attending the conference from ULIS were Dr. Do Tuan Minh – Chairman of the University Council and Party Committee; Dr. Nguyen Xuan Long – President of ULIS; Assoc. Prof. Ha Le Kim Anh – Vice President; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lam Quang Dong – Vice President; and Dr. Hoa Ngoc Son – Vice President.

From the affiliated high and secondary schools, attendees included Mr. Nguyen Phu Chien – Principal of CNN, Ms. Do Thi Ngoc Chi – Vice Principal of CNN; Ms. Nguyen Huyen Trang – Principal of UMS, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Giang – Vice Principal of UMS; along with a large number of teachers, parents, and students from both schools.

Opening the conference, Dr. Do Tuan Minh, Chairman of the University Council and Party Committee, shared his insights, hopes, and strategic directions for the upcoming digital transformation at both schools under ULIS for the 2025–2030 period. His remarks provided significant guidance for the digital transformation efforts at CNN and UMS.

The conference featured a keynote by AI expert Professor Ho Tu Bao – Director of the Data Science Laboratory at the Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM). He discussed the relationship between AI and humans, emphasizing that while AI is becoming an indispensable part of modern life, it cannot fully replace humans in the future. His reflections on the two core values of AI for humanity and how to live alongside AI had a profound impact on the audience.

Following Prof. Bao’s talk, Mr. Nguyen Phu Chien – Principal of CNN – presented on the topic “Digital Competency Framework for Learners,” covering key aspects such as the definition of digital competency, its purpose, structure, competency domains, target audiences, and implementation.

The practical application of AI in teaching at UMS was showcased through a joint presentation by Mr. Nguyen Manh Linh – English teacher at UMS, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Giang – Vice Principal of UMS, and student Nguyen Quynh Chi from class 8A3. Useful platforms and apps like ELSA and I CORRECT, along with a detailed survey titled “AI with Umser: A Survey on AI Usage Among UMS Students,” highlighted the growing integration and frequency of AI usage in student learning.

Digital transformation also plays an important role in administrative work at CNN. Mr. Nguyen Hong Quang – Office Specialist at CNN – presented on how digital transformation is streamlining administrative procedures for students and simplifying office processes via the school’s website.

The conference concluded with a thought-provoking presentation titled “AI Traps”, delivered by Mrs. Ho Thi Giang – Teacher at CNN, and student Nguyen Thuy Duong from class 11G, Dang Thi Thanh Mai from class 11E at CNN. According to Mrs. Giang, language thinking plays a practical role in using AI, and the “AI Challenge” project captured students’ interest by involving them directly in creating content in both Vietnamese and English. The personal reflections shared by students Nguyen Thuy Duong and Dang Thi Thanh Mai served as powerful reminders that AI is not infallible, and that learners and users must stay alert and critical when using AI tools to ensure their effectiveness and accuracy.

The series of presentations at the conference captured participants’ attention and left a strong impression, enriching their understanding of AI’s nature and applications in education and work. Amidst the current momentum of comprehensive digital transformation, every educational institution must not only adapt but also proactively seek their unique path to innovation.

During the 2025–2030 period, ULIS will develop specific and detailed plans to promote digital transformation at CNN and UMS, with the goal of improving teaching and learning quality, enhancing management efficiency, and developing digital competencies for both students and teachers.

It is hoped that with these dynamic steps, CNN and UMS will become pioneering institutions in comprehensive digital transformation. Digital transformation is not only a tool but also a driving force for innovation and creativity, helping both schools evolve into modern, effective digital learning centers.
