The People’s Police Academy’s team won the grand prize. The first prize went for the University of International language and Studies – Da Nang University, the second prize went for the People’s Security Academy, the two third prizes went for Military Academy of Science and Binh Duong University.

On November 30th, 2018, ULIS under the guidance of the National Foreign Languages Project Management Board, Ministry of Education and Training held the final showdown of the English Olympiad for English major students with the participation of The five teams from the People’s Police Academy, the Military Science Academy, the People’s Security Institute, the Binh Duong University and the University of Foreign Languages – University of Da Nang.

The event was attended by a lot of distinguished guests and representatives from the Central Youth Union, VNU’s Youth Union, Hanoi Student Association, VNU student Association, Management Board of the foreign language Project.

From the ULIS side, Vice President Lam Quang Dong, Head of the competition’s organizing Board and representatives from ULIS’s units attended the event.

Speaking at the contest, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen To Chung said: “Participating in the English Olympiad for English major students is an opportunity for English language learners to share their knowledge and assert themselves as well as contribute to the development of tourism in Vietnam.”

Delivering his remarks, Vice President Lam Quang Dong expressed the honor of ULIS when it was entrusted with the task of organizing the English Olympiad for English major students and thanked the representatives, the institutions, the teams, and students for participating in the program.

In the final round, contestants from the five teams took part in activities to improve their English presentation skills and develop their own creative ideas. The sections not only provide ideas for using English to develop local tourism but also bring practical products based on the idea itself.

In addition, the competition was highly competitive as each presentation of each team’s was observed by another team. Subsequently, they had to answer questions from the opposing team itself and from the judges at the end of each presentation.

In the end, the team from the People’s Police Academy conquered the judges and the supporters to win the Grand prize.

In addition to the grand Prize for the People’s Police Academy, the other teams also won the following prizes:

First prize: University of International language and Studies – Da Nang University.

Second prize: People’s Security Academy.

Third prize: Military Academy of Science and Binh Duong University.
