Female leaders play an important role in the development of ULIS

On November 10th, 2018, ULIS-VNU hosted a seminar on “The role of female leaders in the development of ULIS – VNU”.
Attending the seminar were President Do Tuan Minh; Vice President Ngo Minh Thuy; Vice President Nguyen Xuan Long; Chairperson of the Cooperation and Development Advisory Council; Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the University Trade Union; heads of units, secretaries and deputy secretaries of the Youth Union; Board for the Advancement of Women, ULIS- VNU; head of the University’s women committee and guests.
In his remarks at the seminar, President Do Tuan Minh shared interesting figures about ULIS female staff, including the current number of 618 female staff members out of the total 755 (about 82%). While the average age of ULIS staff is 37 years old, that of te female staff is 35.2 years old. 94 out of 133 leaders are women (14 leaders in the functional departments and 80 leaders in the training units). In terms of academic degrees, among female leaders there are 4 associate professors, 37 PhDs and 52 masters.
The President also affirmed that female leaders played a very important role in the overall development of the University. He hoped the seminar could help to make more suggestions on how to better promote the role of female leaders, to promote the contribution and influence of female cadres to the development of the University as the whole.

In her introduction speech, Vice President also known as Head of the Committee for the Advancement of Women Ngo Minh Thuy cited figures on women as leaders in Vietnam to find that women leaders in our country were very well taken care of and absolutely able to undertake excellent management work.
Sharing the difficulties of women leaders, Trade Union Chairman Nguyen Van Doan said that the role of female leaders has been increasingly important in the development of the University. On the occasion of this interesting talk, he also represented the Union Trade Union in supporting the women’s activities in general and female leaders in particular
What is the purpose of this seminar?
The purpose of this seminar is to honor the contributions and capabilities of female staff members in general, female leaders in particular in the development of the University. This is also an opportunity for staff members to learn, exchange experience in work and life, promote the spirit of solidarity, creativity of the contingent of female staff.
In particular, this is an opportunity for female staff to share their thoughts, aspirations, and difficulties so that in the coming time, the University will have more appropriate and necessary policies and support for them.
Also, at the seminar, participants discussed four topics on women leaders at the University.
- What have the male officers of the school been doing to make ULIS’s female officers happy?
- The advantages and disadvantages of a ULIS female cadre as leader.
- How to balance work and family?
- What do male officers look for in female leaders?
The discussion was very exciting, fun, witty and realistic. The groups all agreed that female leaders were playing an important role in the development of the University.
