Holding a conference on the pre-launch of English language, French language, and German language fast-track programs

At the Conference, lecturers and experts all agreed that being capable of using first and second foreign languages; having good knowledge of culture, economy, and society; being cultivated with supplementary skills are exclusive points that students taking part in the programs will be able to take advantage.

On October, 24th, 2018, ULIS-VNU held a conference on the pre-launch of English language, French language, and German language fast-track programs to share and discuss constructive ideas.

The Conference was attended by ULIS’s President Do Tuan Minh, Chairman of the Science and Training Council Prof. Nguyen Hoa, Head of the Academic Affair Office Ha Le Kim Anh, executive committees and lecturers from relevant faculties, and experts from education institutions and business.

Delivering his speech at the Conference, President Do Tuan Minh said: “following the common guideline, from 2016, the University has been working on fast-track programs in accordance with Circular 23/TT-BGDDT. This Circular allows eligible universities to improve their training quality so as to create decent human resources who are capable of competing in new era”.

He added: “In this year’s intake, the University successfully enrolled 322 students for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean language fast-track programs with the average points are 28.73; 29.25; 30.02 for Chinese language, Japanese language, and Korean language respectively. These figures demonstrate the initial success of the program in terms of the quality of the students.”

“Some of the students who are admitted to standard programs have applied to a transition to fast-track programs.” said the President.

Firstly, the upcoming programs need to be empirical and realistic. Students of the programs would be recruited instantly after graduation. Teaching methods need to be more practical rather than too academic; Secondly, the figure of visiting lecturers needs to be one third of the lecturers of the program.” He says.

Later, three presentations about three programs were given at the Conference.

What were the presentations about?

The presentations all pointed out unique, strong, and groundbreaking points of the fast-track program, from which capability of using first and second foreign languages; knowledge in culture, economy, and society; and supplementary skills are by far the most outstanding points of this program.

Also, the experts participating at the Conference shared ideas to contribute to the launch of the program and showed some criterion on the recruitment of their institutions.

To end the Conference, President Do Tuan Minh extended his thanks towards all of the lecturers and experts for having turned up and shared constructive ideas at the Conference.
