International Conference on Korean Language and Literature Teaching in Southeast Asia
On August 16th-17th, 2019, ULIS-VNU in collaboration with the Project Management Board of Future Korean Language and Literature Talent BK21 plus – Korea University, South Korea organized the 29th International Conference on Korean Language and Literature under the theme “Teaching Korean Language and Literature in Southeast Asia – Practice and Suggestions”.
The conference was attended by Vice President Lam Quang Dong, Prof. Choe Ho Chol – Director of the Project, Dean of the Faculty of Korean Language & Culture Tran Thi Huong, Vice Deans of the Faculty La Thi Thanh Mai and Nguyen Thuy Duong, Dr. Luu Tuan Anh – Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies – University of Social Sciences and Humanities – VNU. The conference gathered more than 50 scholars, researchers, lecturers from Korea University (Korea), University of Phonchaleun Sommay (Laos), University of Darussalam (Brunei), University of Malaya (Malaysia), ULIS – VNU, USSH – VNU and USSH – VNU – HCM.
In his opening remarks, Vice President Lam Quang Dong believed that the conference was a valuable opportunity to help domestic and foreign researchers to exchange more practical experiences and propose new orientations in studying and teaching Korean language and literature. He also believed in a better relationship between Vietnam and Korea and with Southeast Asia in general through the organization of this conference.
Representing Korea University, Professor. Lee Ho-jeol expected that the conference would make room for new ideas and orientations to develop Korean language and literature teaching in many countries.
In the conference, 19 papers were delivered. Delegates presented their research results and their viewspoints as well as contributed suggestions to developing Korean language and literature in Korea and Southeast Asian countries.
