International conference on the current situation and prospects of Korean learning and research in Vietnam
On November 27th, 2019, ULIS – VNU held an international conference on the current situation and prospects of Korean learning and research in Vietnam. This is an activity within the framework of the project “Building a training and research system to develop Korean learning in Vietnam” (AKS Core Vietnam) by the Korea Development Fund – (AKS – Korea sponsored).
The conference was attended by Vice President Lam Quang Dong, representatives of AKS Foundation and Management Board of AKS Core Vietnam, Management Board and lecturers of the Faculty of Korean Language & Culture and numerous domestic and foreign scholars interested in this topic. Additionally, the conference attracted many international delegates, especially from Korea, to attend and present reports at the conference.
Addressing at the opening ceremony, Dean of the Faculty of Korean Language & Culture Tran Thi Huong said that ULIS – VNU was aiming to build a model for teaching and researching Korean in Vietnam.
Mr. Jung Suk Won – Deputy Director of AKS Foundation said that this conference was organized as part of the project.
Delivering his speech at the conference, Vice President Lam Quang Dong said that the project would promote and improve the quality of Korean teaching and research at ULIS in particular and Vietnam in general.
The International conference focused on the actual situation and the direction to conduct Korean training and research in Vietnam in the future.
The conference had 2 keynote speakers, Moon Ok-Pyo (Deploying Korean studies across the world and in Asia) and Lee Hai-Young (current situation and prospects of teaching Korean language across the world). They were followed by 15 papers of domestic and international delegates.
