ULIS Teachers and Students Harvest Half a Ton of Mangoes in Just 20 Minutes

Nearly 500 kilograms of mangoes were harvested within 20 minutes during the first-ever ULIS Mango Festival, held at the University of Languages and International Studies – VNU (ULIS) on May 15, 2026.

The lively event brought together nearly 1,000 students, lecturers, staff members, and guests in a vibrant atmosphere filled with cheers, teamwork, and excitement. Sixteen teams competed to harvest mangoes from trees across the campus, using specially prepared tools while following safety rules.

According to ULIS Vice Principal Hà Lê Kim Anh, the idea originated from the university’s abundant mango harvest this year. The festival aimed to create a meaningful outdoor experience, strengthen community connections, and promote environmental awareness before the summer break.

After the competition, the freshly picked mangoes were turned into popular Vietnamese snacks such as mango shake and seasoned green mango, and shared with students on campus. The event also attracted international lecturers and parents, contributing to a joyful and inclusive community spirit.

Beyond the competition itself, the festival became a memorable opportunity for participants to connect, relax, and celebrate campus life together. For many students, receiving a mango before the exam season was also seen as a symbol of good luck and hopes for excellent academic results.
