Japanese Ambassador delivers special lecture at ULIS and presents Certificates of Commendation to ULIS and the Foreign Language Specialized School
On December 16, 2025, at Vu Dinh Lien Hall, Mr. Ito Naoki, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam, delivered a special lecture to students of ULIS and pupils of the Foreign Language Specialized School (FLSS). The event also featured the presentation of Certificates of Commendation from the Head of the Japanese Diplomatic Mission Abroad to ULIS and FLSS.

Attending the ceremony on behalf of ULIS–VNU were President Nguyen Xuan Long, Vice President Hoa Ngoc Son, representatives of the Office of Academic Affairs, the Office of Science, Technology and Development Cooperation, the Faculty of Japanese Language and Culture, representatives of FLSS, along with lecturers, students, and pupils of the University.


Representing the Embassy of Japan were Ambassador Ito Naoki and Mr. Nakashima Yusuke, Head of the Education Section.

In his opening remarks, President Nguyen Xuan Long expressed his great honor and sincere gratitude for welcoming Ambassador Ito Naoki to visit and engage with the University’s lecturers, students, and pupils. He emphasized the long-standing attention, support, and close partnership of the Embassy of Japan with ULIS throughout its 70-year journey of establishment and development, particularly in Japanese language education and Vietnam–Japan cultural exchange activities. Building on this strong foundation of cooperation, the President expressed his hope that the relationship between the two sides would continue to be strengthened and expanded, inspiring learning, broadening exchange opportunities, and nurturing international integration aspirations among younger generations.

At the event, Ambassador Ito Naoki delivered a special lecture on Vietnam–Japan relations, student exchange and educational cooperation between the two countries, strategic relations, and multilateral cooperation. From these perspectives, he highlighted future career prospects for young people in general and for ULIS students and pupils in particular. The Ambassador also shared insights into the skills and qualifications required to meet the demands of rapidly developing professions in Japan, as well as examples of Vietnamese international students who have achieved success in their career paths. Concluding his lecture, Ambassador Ito Naoki reaffirmed that Vietnamese tourists, human resources, and talented young people play an important role in Japan’s development, and expressed his hope to further spread love and passion for Japan among Vietnamese youth, students, and pupils.




Following the lecture was an interactive Q&A session, which saw enthusiastic participation from students and pupils. In response to the questions, the Ambassador shared his personal experiences, as well as the opportunities and challenges of living and working in Vietnam.



The program then continued with the presentation of Certificates of Commendation from the Head of the Japanese Diplomatic Mission Abroad to ULIS–VNU and FLSS, recognizing their continuous efforts in promoting Japanese language education, training human resources, and making significant contributions to enhancing mutual understanding between Japan and Vietnam. Ambassador Ito Naoki presented the certificates to representatives of the two institutions.
On the same occasion, ULIS–VNU awarded the Commemorative Medal “For the Development of the University of Languages and International Studies – Vietnam National University, Hanoi” to Ambassador Ito Naoki in recognition of his active contributions to the University’s development, on the occasion of its 70th anniversary.



The ceremony concluded with memorable commemorative photographs.
