On September 17th 2018, The University of Languages and International Studies – Vietnam National University, Hanoi held the opening ceremony for students of the 2018-2019 International joint training program.

The ceremony was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Minh Thuy, ULIS’s Vice President, the representatives of affiliate units, the representative of the Southern New Hampshire University and students of the International joint training program, especially the ceremony witnessed the participation of 132 QH.2018 freshmen in different training programs between ULIS and one of the following universities: Southern New Hampshire University (the USA), Picardie Jules Verne University (France), Chaoyang University (Chinese, Taipei) and Kookmin University (Korea).

Addressing at the ceremony, Vice President Ngo Minh Thuy extended her congratulation to 132 new students who have chosen the University ​​for their youth. She sent three pieces of advice to the students, “study for yourself”, “you have to believe in yourself and try your best for it”, and “always be ready for any changes”. The University always strives to improve the quality of international joint programs and really hopes the students to make contributions to this process.

On behalf of ULIS’s partners, Prof. Nicholas Nugent, a lecturer at Southern New Hampshire University, expressed his pleasure to return to ULIS for the new school year. He said that the lectures he would teach ULIS students were exactly the same as those taught at Southern New Hampshire, Harvard and many other major universities around the world. Therefore, the students studying in international joint programs at ULIS could be assured that they would enjoy a top academic quality and curricular.

Nguyen Khanh Linh, a QH.2018 student of Business – Finance class, the representative of the new students affirmed that she was really proud to be a new student of ULIS. It is even more special when she studies in the Faculty of Language Education and Professional Development in the school year of 2018-2019, marking the 40th anniversary of the Faculty. She believed that ULIS would be a great place to realize the dreams of her friends and hers own, with a sincere sharing “We love and thank ULIS a lot!”

At the ceremony, ULIS presented Future Start-up Scholarships (8,800,000 VND/Scholarship) to Nguyen Khanh Linh and Le Bao Ngoc (QH.2018 students of Business –  Finance class). In addition, ULIS bestowed the Certificate of Merit and gifts to 1 elite student, 4 students with excellent academic results, 10 students with good academic results, 3 students with excellent training results, 4 students with excellent academic and training results.

On behalf of the older students, Do Hai My (QH. 2016) shared her happiness of passing more than half of the student life at the Faculty of Language Education and Professional Development. She extended her best wishes to newbies and affirmed that they would receive great love and enthusiastic help from teachers and older students. My also hoped that the freshmen would regard the Faculty as a family, a place to dream and explore their hidden potentials.

After the formal opening ceremony, the exchange session among the students of international joint training programs took place. The students played  group games and watched art performances.
