Through the signed agreement, the University of Languages and International Studies – Vietnam National University, Hanoi (ULIS – VNU) has become the official partner of IDP Education Organization and IDP’s IELTS exams will be held regularly and periodically at ULIS since May 2018.

On April 20th, 2018, ULIS held an official signing ceremony of cooperation agreement with IDP Education Vietnam Ltd (IELTS representative office) on organizing International IELTS exam at ULIS.

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Do Tuan Minh – ULIS’s President, Assoc Prof. Ngo Minh Thuy – ULIS’s Vice President, M.A. Bui Dinh Thang – Vice Director of Cooperation and Development Office, Assoc. Prof. Ha Le Kim Anh – Director of Academic Affairs Office, M.A. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Quynh – Director of the Center for Language Testing and Assessment. From IDP Vietnam, Ms. Pham Thi Phuong Dung – Director of National IELTS Office and Mr. Nguyen Tuan – the representative of Hanoi Office’s Business Development Department took part in the ceremony.

At the ceremony, representatives of the two parties signed the Framework Memorandum of Understanding. Accordingly, ULIS has become an official partner of IDP Education. IDP‘s IELTS examinations will be held regularly and periodically at ULIS – VNU from May 2018. In addition to IELTS preparation programs conducted by lecturers of ULIS – VNU, the two sides also agreed to organize regular training courses on IELTS skills and free mock examinations for students registering for training courses and candidates taking IELTS tests of IDP at ULIS.

This cooperation agreement is in line with the desire of both sides to increase the opportunities of accessing to IELTS test, one of the most prestigious and popular international English proficiency tests in the world for English learners at VNU as well as other educational institutions in Hanoi and the North. This can be considered a concrete activity in the implementation of ULIS’s guideline, which is to become a reliable, high-quality and satisfactory destination to meet the needs of study, exam preparation as well as English proficiency evaluation of all Vietnamese subjects. Specifically, besides building and developing standardized proficiency tests in accordance with international standards of Vietnam (ex: the English Proficiency Test based on the 6-level capacity framework for Vietnamese people – VSTEP), ULIS will be the organizer or provide test sites for all internationally-standardized English tests, satisfying the diversified needs of the Vietnamese people.

Becoming the official partner of the world’s leading organizations in English and foreign language proficiency assessment also affirms that the testing quality at ULIS – VNU is on the same level with the international standard. On the other hand, the university will build upon and make the most of its strengths as the leading university of the country in English education and training by organizing IELTS preparation courses.

Addressing at the ceremony, representatives of both sides expressed their desire to accompany and cooperate in many fields, not just the organization of IELTS examinations. President Minh and Ms. Dung both believed in the prospect of this potential cooperation.

After the signing ceremony, on Friday, April 27th, 2018 (session 1: 10.00 – 12.00, session 2: 13.00 – 15:00), ULIS and IDP Vietnam will co-organize the event “IELTS Information Day” at Vu Dinh Lien Amphitheater of ULIS – VNU. Participants are welcome to attend freely and enjoy the following special incentives:

1. Free registration for IELTS mock examination with IDP Education
2. Participating in test skill training with IELTS international judges from IDP
3. A 200,000 VND discount in IELTS test fee for registrations at the event
4. A 30% discount in the tuition fee of IELTS training courses at ULIS – VNU for registrations at the event
