On September 19th, 2017, Dr. Do Tuan Minh – President of University of Languages and International Studies – Vietnam National University, Hanoi (ULIS – VNU) met with Mr. K.V. Vnukov – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Vietnam.

Accompanying the Ambassador was the Director of the Center for Russian Science and Culture in Hanoi, Second Secretary of the Embassy of the Russia, N.V. Shafinskaya, First Secretary of Embassy of the Russia, V. Shustov, Third Secretary of the Russian Embassy A. Gabdieva. From ULIS, Vice President Ngo Minh Thuy, Deputy Head of Cooperation and Development Office Mai Van Hoa, Management Board of the Faculty of Russian Language and Culture participated in the meeting which took place in a warm, cheerful atmosphere and achieved the expected results.

At the meeting, the Ambassador highly appreciated that ULIS, the leading Russian language training unit in Vietnam, has made great contributions to the dissemination of Russian in Vietnam. He said that 2019 would be marked as the Russian Year in Vietnam and Vietnamese Year in Russia and hoped that the ULIS headed by President Minh would support for and participate in activities of this event.

President Minh stated that he would support all activities related to improving the quality of teaching Russian at ULIS, as well as promoting the Russian language in Vietnam. President Minh and Vice President Ngo Minh Thuy also made some suggestions to create and increase motivation for Russian-learning students, so that the Russian language and Russian culture were not only more attractive for Vietnamese who are teaching and learning this language, but also became closer to students of other faculties at ULIS.

Accepting the invitation of President Minh, on September 20th, 2017, Director of Russian Science and Culture Center in Hanoi, the second Secretary of Embassy of the Russian Federation N. V. Shafinskaya will attend the opening ceremony of the new school year and exchange with freshmen of the Faculty of Russian Language and Culture. On Friday, September 22nd, 2017, Ms. N.V. Shafinskaya along with the delegation of universities of Russian Federation will come to exchange with teachers and students of Faculty of Russian Language and Culture of ULIS. In this school year 2017-2018, ULIS will organize a talk show with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Vietnam with people teaching and studying Russian at ULIS.

Other cooperation issues will be mentioned and discussed by President Do Tuan Minh and the Ambassador through email and Board of Management of Faculty of Russian Language and Culture.
