The opening ceremony of the 11th Vietnamese Language Training Course for international security and police students
On June 12th, 2018, the opening ceremony of the 11th Vietnamese Language Training Course for international security and police students was held at the University of Languages and International Studies – Vietnam National University, Hanoi (ULIS – VNU).
The ceremony was attended by Colonel Nguyen Van Chieu – Deputy Director General of the Department of External Relations, Ministry of Public Security (MPS) and representative from the Embassy of Malaysia. From ULIS, Dr. Do Tuan Minh – ULIS’s President, M.A. Mai Van Hoa – The Vice Director of Cooperation & Development Office, Dr. Hoa Ngoc Son – Dean of Faculty for Language Education and Professional Development, along with staff, lecturers and especially, representatives of 18 security and police students from 7 countries including Laos, Cambodia, China, Japan, Korea, Russia and Czech Republic.
In line with the foreign policy of the Party and Government of Vietnam, MPS has been continuously setting up, expanding and promoting cooperative relations with law enforcement agencies, security agencies, police of countries around the globe. Since 2008, the MPS has successfully organized 10 Vietnamese language courses with about 70 foreign officers of security, police and intelligence in attendance. Flying higher on the success of previous courses, in this 6-month course, students will be divided into 3 classes based on their levels. Students will be trained with a standard curriculum, which combines in-class learning with extra-curricular activities, exchange with ULIS students, language practice at tourist attractions in Hanoi, and experiences with Vietnamese traditional culture, culinary culture and landmark tours. All of these experiences are aimed at not only improving their command of language to serve their work, but also providing opportunities for students to practice the language and learn more about the country, people and culture of Vietnam.
Delivering his opening remark, President Minh warmly welcomed all the students to ULIS. He also expressed a deep sense of gratitude to MPS for its trust, and for assigning ULIS to train Vietnamese language for foreign officers. He engaged to create the best conditions for students participating in the course and hoped that they would have unforgettable experiences at ULIS and in Vietnam.
On behalf of MPS, Colonel Nguyen Van Chieu, believed that with students’ attempts and the coordination of relevant units, particularly ULIS, the course would be successful and meet the expectations of students and their countries. He also hoped that after coming back to their countries, the students would act as a bridge between Vietnam and their countries. The Colonel wished that the students would have a useful and meaningful June studying at ULIS.
The opening ceremony of the 11th Vietnamese language training course for foreign police and security officers came to an end with a photo-taking session and a ULIS’s campus tour.
