ULIS Launches “Scientific Boot Camp” Program for Faculty Members
On April 29th, 2025, the University of Languages and International Studies – Vietnam National University, Hanoi (ULIS – VNU) officially launched its “Scientific Boot Camp” program in a formal opening ceremony.

Representing ULIS at the event were Vice President Lam Quang Đong, Vice President Hoa Ngoc Son, members of the organizing committee, invited speakers, and participating lecturers.
In his opening remarks, Vice President Hoa Ngoc Son emphasized that the “Scientific Boot Camp” is a thoughtfully crafted initiative by ULIS, aimed at fostering a strong research culture. This year’s program has attracted the participation of 70 faculty members. Over the course of six sessions, the participants will explore research methodologies in applied linguistics and foreign language education.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Quynh then introduced the details of the program, which is structured as a professional training and mentoring course. It blends expert lectures, roundtable discussions with leading scholars, and individualized hands-on activities within a well-structured framework. The program aims to strengthen research capabilities at the Master’s and Doctoral levels for prospective researchers at ULIS, incubate research projects in applied linguistics and language education, and provide consultation and scholarly networking support for postgraduate research initiatives.

Running from April 29 to May 15, 2025, the course features six sessions, including four theory-based seminars on topics such as research methodology in applied linguistics and language education, contemporary research issues, the role of technology and artificial intelligence in research, and postgraduate research proposals. Additionally, participants will engage in one-on-one consultation and a final scientific presentation session.
By the end of the course, participants are expected to draft a preliminary outline for their own research projects and identify key resources and academic support for further development of postgraduate-level studies.

The ceremony concluded with a group photo session, after which participants immediately embarked on the first topic of the course.
