On May 16, 2026, students from the Faculty of Korean Language and Culture at the University of Languages and International Studies – Vietnam National University, Hanoi (ULIS – VNU) participated in the “2026 Dramatization of Korean Literature” competition. The event was co-organized by the Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam and the National Museum of Korean Literature at Hanoi University. The university’s team excellently won the overall Third Prize with their playlet titled “Hoa dongbaek” (Camellia Flowers).

This year’s competition gathered more than 200 students from 11 universities in Hanoi that offer training in Korean Language and Korean Studies, including: University of Languages and International Studies – VNU, Hanoi University, University of Social Sciences and Humanities – VNU, FPT University, Phenikaa University, Thang Long Long University, Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, among others.

Entering its 4th year, the competition has become a meaningful academic and artistic playground for students who love Korean literature, language, and culture. By adapting literary works for the stage, students have the opportunity to approach Korean literature vividly, while developing their language skills, artistic creativity, and teamwork skills.
At the competition, the team from the University of Languages and International Studies – VNU brought the playlet “Hoa dongbaek”, adapted from a work by writer Kim Yoo Jung. With a natural and emotional performance, along with serious investment in content and staging, the presentation by the ULIS students left a strong impression on the Judges and the audience, thereby securing the overall Third Prize.

Beyond being an art competition, the “2026 Dramatization of Korean Literature” also contributes to promoting cultural exchange between Vietnam and South Korea, creating an environment for university students to connect, learn, and spread their passion for Korean literature.
The achievement at the competition continues to affirm the dynamism, creativity, and professional competence of students from the Faculty of Korean Language and Culture in particular, and ULIS students in general, in international academic and cultural activities.
