On January 30, 2026, the University of Languages and International Studies – Vietnam National University, Hanoi (ULIS – VNU) successfully held the ULIS Spring Festival 2026. The event attracted a large number of administrators, lecturers, and students, creating a lively and heartwarming atmosphere to welcome the Lunar New Year.

Attending the program on behalf of the University were members of the University’s leadership board, representatives of affiliated units, staff, and students. Distinguished guests included Calligrapher Trần Quốc Chí, Head of the Hanoi UNESCO Calligraphy and Painting Club, and Calligrapher Phạm Ngọc Đình, President of the Vietnam UNESCO Calligraphy Club.

The ULIS Spring Festival is an annual event eagerly anticipated by the entire ULIS community. It offers an opportunity to experience traditional Vietnamese culture in a joyful atmosphere welcoming the New Year. Folk games such as tug of war, blindfolded duck catching, and blindfolded clay pot smashing, along with the meaningful activity of giving bus tickets to students, contributed to a warm and loving festive ambiance across the ULIS campus.

The program opened with lively cultural performances by ULIS students, energizing the crowd and setting an exciting tone for the festival.

In his opening remarks, Vice President Hoa Ngọc Sơn emphasized that the ULIS Spring Festival is a traditional cultural activity maintained annually to preserve national cultural identity, foster exchange and cohesion within the ULIS community, and promote Vietnamese cultural values in a multilingual and multicultural educational environment. The opening ceremony concluded with the beating of the Spring Drum, officially ushering in a vibrant and joyful festival atmosphere.

This was followed by a calligraphy presentation by Calligraphers Trần Quốc Chí and Phạm Ngọc Đình to welcome Spring 2026. The calligraphy character “Thái,” symbolizing peace and wisdom, was written and presented to the University, conveying wishes for a peaceful new year, smooth career development, continuous growth, and a prosperous future for both teachers and students of ULIS.

Throughout the festival, a wide range of engaging activities took place, including a traditional Tết market experience, a student calligraphy contest, a Five-Fruit Tray Arrangement Contest, folk games (tug of war, blindfolded duck catching, blindfolded clay pot smashing), the presentation of bus tickets for students returning home for Tết, the final round of the competition “My Class Is Number One,” and a celebratory fireworks display.

The calligraphy contest, featuring outstanding students from the Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture, was held in a vibrant and competitive atmosphere. The contest provided an opportunity for ULIS students to showcase their calligraphy talents while promoting and preserving the traditional cultural values and artistic essence of Vietnamese calligraphy.

Traditional folk games, student booths, and the Five-Fruit Tray Arrangement Contest attracted enthusiastic participation, vividly recreating the colorful atmosphere of a traditional Vietnamese Tết.

In addition, the program presenting bus tickets for students returning home for Tết brought many touching moments. This meaningful activity demonstrated the University’s care and support for students facing difficult circumstances, helping them reunite with their families during the Lunar New Year.

Meanwhile, the final round of the competition “My Class Is Number One” created a space for class youth unions to interact, learn from one another, strengthen bonds, and affirm their unique class identities.

The ULIS Spring Festival concluded with a dazzling fireworks display, leaving a lasting impression on staff, students, and visitors alike. The program not only brought joy at the beginning of the year but also marked a promising start to 2026, inspiring ULIS teachers and students to continue uniting, innovating, and growing together.
